In order to broaden our horizons, learn from the advanced experience of advanced areas and improve the level and quality of community services, from April 15 to April 2 1 day, we and a group of 20 leaders from street functional departments were lucky enough to step into the beautiful Sunshine Coast of xx and stay in the Youth Federation for study and training.
Xx Youth Association is a social work organization serving the youth. Here, everything is beyond my expectation, from accommodation and dining to study and training, the conditions are unimaginable.
However, in just a few days of study and training, we have a more intuitive understanding of Hong Kong's social life, the development level of social welfare and the development of social work from theory to practice, and also realized the deeper connotation and professional value in the field of social work. On the whole, I have gained a lot. Below, I will share my learning and training experience with you.
? First, the youth association's marginal teenagers can go home.
? I once lamented why juvenile delinquency is getting more and more serious now. People often regard their own growth as a kind of evil, and there will be less and less hope, but society lacks an inclusive force. From the beginning, their problem was not a problem, but they chose to escape to vent their emotions or escape their dissatisfaction. But when they want to turn around, they find that there is no place to accept them, and going further and further becomes our problem.
The xx Youth Association was established in 199 1, and it is a non-governmental organization. The source of funds mainly depends on donations from the xx Jockey Club and some charities, with a small amount of government grants and self-raised funds. The organization has been focusing on providing crisis intervention services for marginalized teenagers in xx, especially more than 60,000 teenagers who run away from home every year. The services it provides are:
(1) Late-night outreach service. This service is mainly to actively find young people who wander around all night, are homeless or run away from home, and take them back to the crisis intervention center for further assistance. Late-night outreach, as one of the special activities of social work organizations in Hong Kong, has a strong reference significance for the Mainland.
(2) Crisis intervention of accommodation service. There are men's centers and women's centers, which can accommodate 15 young men and women respectively. The center is open 24 hours a day, providing timely, safe and warm family-style services for teenagers in Liulian Street. In addition to providing individual and group counseling for young people, professional social workers in the center will also contact their parents in time to understand the reasons why they left home and help them return to their families. After these teenagers leave home, social workers will follow up for half a year.
(3) Zilitang. Provide six-month transitional dormitory service for working youth, during which self-reliance life skills training and employment counseling will be provided.
(4) Youth Employment Support Scheme. Committed to arranging unemployed and out-of-school young people to work in express delivery companies, convenience stores and restaurants run by the Youth Federation, so that these young people with low education and low technology can take the first step in their work and gain practical work experience. Each young person can work under the scheme for one year and be supervised by people in the industry. After the program is completed, they will get letters of recommendation to help them find full-time jobs outside their homes.
(5) Ba Pu. Is a youth trend cultural activity center, open 24 hours a day, providing various entertainment facilities and social worker consulting services. The edge is green and the night is green? Provide a safe gathering place, and at the same time create opportunities and spaces for social workers to get to know them and provide help. At the same time, the center is also open to community residents and provides membership services to encourage community residents to understand and participate in the development of youth associations.
(6) The summit of the city is a professional adventure. This is a newly established activity of the Youth Federation, mainly to change one's mind through wonderful experiences. Youth associations not only provide a home for marginalized teenagers, but also a place for marginalized teenagers to gain self-esteem. It is much better to help marginal teenagers by providing job opportunities than to give them directly, because self-reliance is also the ability that every growing youth longs for!
Second, classroom teaching
The biggest highlight of the teacher's lecture is to ask questions constantly, so that our thinking can follow him, which also enlivens the classroom atmosphere. On the morning of April 16, Mr. xx, Deputy Director of xx Young Workers Research Center, explained the training plan for young workers. He introduced the mission of Bosco, the mission of the Youth Federation, the cornerstone, characteristics, theoretical framework, service content and objectives of the Youth Federation, mainly to help us understand the Youth Federation. In the afternoon, Ms. xx, director of xx Youth Research Center, gave a lecture on "Intervention Skills?" Case counseling skills, relationship building and tentative behavior handling. Teacher Zhou's lectures are rich in content, vivid in language and diverse in forms, which are closely combined with our work practice and give us great inspiration.
On the morning of April 20th, Mr. Chen Zhihao, social worker of Xie Qingshe Gigi Lai Club, explained reality therapy to us. Because Mr. Chen has difficulty in speaking Mandarin, we sound very hard. After soliciting opinions, Mr. Chen introduced the experience of how to do a good job in probation for marginal teenagers, which is worth learning from. In the afternoon, Mr. xx Sheng, Assistant Director-General of the Youth Federation, gave a special lecture on "Reception, Education and Community Handling of Juvenile Delinquency". He introduced the definitions and concepts of detention and community, compared their advantages and disadvantages, and emphasized the benefits of community probation service and the content of community rehabilitation service. In the Youth Federation, we were deeply impressed by the enthusiasm of professional social workers. From morning to night, from night to late at night, although there are shifts, everyone we meet is full of passion. What the Youth Federation does is to reshape the personality and soul of others, and many practices have great reference significance for us to prevent juvenile delinquency.
Three. Institutional visit
As a part of this study and training, on April 17, Teacher xxx of Youth Research Center of Xieqing Society took us to visit community service institutions such as xxxx Community Service Center, xxxx Integrated Family Service Center and xxx Community Center. ? Community? This concept is an abstract concept in xx, unlike the domestic community which has a certain region. This institutional visit not only gives us a preliminary understanding of Hong Kong's historical and cultural development, but also gives us a glimpse of xx's social welfare undertakings and residents' living conditions.
? In xx Community Service Center, we feel that the social welfare department and all walks of life in xx attach great importance to and support the work of aging, and we are deeply impressed by the sincere care and sincere service of social workers and the uniform and well-trained volunteer team.
At the Caritas Shau Kei Wan Integrated Family Service Center, we learned about the specific contents and main practices of the one-stop integrated family counseling service, family support service and family resource service provided by the center. These services are child-oriented, family-oriented and community-based. We visited their social work office and were moved by their professionalism.
In Jian 'ai Community Activity Center, we listened carefully to the introduction of the staff. Their main tasks include: library and study room services, children and teenagers' work, family work, services for new arrivals from the Mainland, services for local residents, services for elderly people living alone, services for ex-mental patients, and women's work. They are committed to building community strength, cultivating the spirit of mutual assistance, caring for the disadvantaged groups, improving community cohesion and promoting community participation.
These institutions have their own characteristics and have their own fixed service items, service areas and service groups. These institutions have provided relatively perfect services to the corresponding community targets, and let us see a Hong Kong society with a relatively complete security system. Wherever we go, what we see is not a mountain of bills, but a real love service.
Due to the demands and demands of different social classes and the absence of government management, many social groups and organizations in Hong Kong have assumed some social affairs management responsibilities. They have developed a certain field of social work and made their own efforts and explorations to build a caring, civilized and caring community. The development of social work in Hong Kong is second to none in Asia. Its mature professional concept, perfect system service, excellent talent team and considerable development prospects are enviable. In this training and study, I can get in touch with social workers in Hong Kong in many ways. Their professional service experience and professional attitude deeply infected us.
In xx, more than 90% people have volunteer service experience. They are willing to devote their time and love, regardless of money and remuneration, and engage in a lot of auxiliary, auxiliary, compulsory and supportive work under the guidance of professionals.
During the whole journey, we saw a very modern city. Mild sunshine, blue sky, refreshing sea breeze and pleasant air are amazing. Green has decorated the whole city and the humanized infrastructure is enviable. Urban management is orderly, streets are clean and tidy, transportation extends in all directions, citizens are polite and diligent, which makes us feel the differences between history and modernity, and between eastern and western cultures.
