Qingyang's former residence in Jinjiang has been preserved to this day, and it is inhabited by descendants of Zhang (Quanzhou residence, former residence). In the thirty-eighth year of Wanli (16 10), Zhang Ruitu took time off to rest at home for two years. He built a bedroom by the East Lake in Quanzhou as a place to make friends with the gentry in the county.
Zhang Ruitu is one of the most creative calligraphers in the late Ming Dynasty. He was famous for his good handwriting when he was young. At that time, people called Xing Dong, Mi and Dong Qichang "four great writers" in the late Ming Dynasty.
Zhang Ruitu's calligraphy is really different from gentle and charming fashion. It has a unique style. He is good at writing, writing and cursive writing, and his brushwork is stiff and steep, and his structure is crazy. His staggered layout and fierce momentum constitute a strong sense of force and surging momentum. This is indeed a strange escape. At that time, people praised him as "strange and unrestrained, like a dragon moving a snake, without any dust."
The formation of artistic charm and interesting algae has its own development law, especially the calligraphy art with strong formal beauty and abstraction, and its style depends more on aesthetic concepts than moral concepts. After all, the expressive essence of calligraphy art belongs to the aesthetic category, and it is difficult to make a fair judgment simply by moral ethics. The evaluation standard of calligraphy can only be calligraphy itself. Therefore, Zhang Ruitu's calligraphy is still recognized by the society and has unique aesthetic value.
