The library of Hunan Agricultural University is rich in books, complete in categories, diverse in carrier forms, complete in collection system and distinctive in features. Literature collection covers agriculture, science, engineering, law, literature, management, economics, teaching and other disciplines, forming a collection system with academic and professional characteristics of our school, organically combining printed, electronic and network literature information resources. The total collection of books is more than 2 million volumes, including Chinese and foreign printed books 1.6 million, electronic books 440,000, Chinese electronic journals 33 1 species, foreign electronic journals 7634, Chinese and foreign printed journals 265438 (2787 volumes) and articles 2037.

Hunan Agricultural University Library is a member library of CALIS National Agronomy Center, the first batch of novelty retrieval units of the Ministry of Agriculture, the standing director library of Hunan University Library Working Committee, and the member library of Hunan University Digital Library. The new library completed in 2008 implements a one-card system, unified lending and returning mode, one-stop service, all-weather opening, fully open shelving management and all-round service, which conforms to the advanced library management mode of "borrowing, reading, storing, managing, inquiring and searching" and "integrating people, machines and books". The library of Hunan Agricultural University is moving towards the goal of a research-oriented, open, multi-functional, intelligent, electronic and automated modern library. There are over 930,000 books and documents in Chinese and foreign languages, including nearly 300,000 electronic books. CD-ROM databases have been purchased: CABI Abstracts Database, Tsinghua Tongfang China Academic Journal, and the Catalogue of Foreign Agricultural Science and Technology Materials Collection of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences Literature Information Center; Teachers and students can use the Internet and campus network to search Wanfang data resource system, Weipu Chinese sci-tech periodical full-text database and springer electronic periodical full-text database.

The library has a party and government office, an interview department, a cataloging department, an information department, a book department and a periodical department. There are 50 full-time employees, including 2 professors, 2 associate senior titles 12 and 8 intermediate titles 18. He has undertaken more than one scientific research project 10 at all levels, published more than 70 papers in academic journals, and established close contact and academic exchanges with brother college libraries inside and outside the province.
