The difference between People's Weekly and People's Daily is that People's Weekly is an academic journal sponsored by People's Daily. The People's Daily is the organ of the central government, a ministerial-level unit and the most authoritative political newspaper in China.

It is the organ newspaper of North China Central Bureau and also undertakes the function of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China organ newspaper.
