Why was the May 4th Movement initiated by students in the first place?
Students are full of blood and easy to use. In the old society, those who could go to school were basically hardworking, and students accepted new knowledge and new ideas faster.

The May 4th Movement is an anti-imperialist and anti-feudal patriotic movement of the whole nation. The pioneers involved are patriotic students and Chinese workers studying in France, and the backbone are young students, citizens, workers and patriotic business people in China. They put forward the patriotic slogan of "fighting for national rights abroad and punishing national thieves at home".

It was initiated by Peking University students themselves. The fuse was that western powers demanded that China sign the Paris Peace Treaty, and China was one of the victors. But the contract requires China to lease Qingdao to Japan. With strong patriotic feelings, Peking University students consciously took to the streets, playing the slogan of "fighting for national rights abroad and punishing national thieves at home". Finally, the delegation of China refused to sign the contract.
