The life of the characters in Chen's novels
1920 Chen was born in a small mountain village in Baizhu Township, Pingxiang City. Because his two older brothers died prematurely, after Chen was born, his family took care of him and gave him a nickname, Shi Jian. When I was a child, the road to school was very hard. Since elementary school, he has to follow his father Pi Xing Dai Yue, who teaches, and climb more than 50 miles of mountain roads to go to school in the county. Pingxiang didn't have a high school then. After graduating from Pingxiang Middle School, he went to Changsha alone and applied for the first high school in the province. In the geography entrance examination, he answered all the examination papers with a few simple maps, which was favored by the headmaster and became an "international student" in Jiangxi. He later published the article "Travel Notes of Nanyue" in the school magazine, which was appreciated and encouraged by teachers and principals. Perhaps this has vaguely become an opportunity and signal for him to engage in lifelong study of earth science in the future.

1938, in the days of war, Chen was admitted to Zhejiang University with the same degree after only two years of high school. At first, he studied in the Department of Education, but painting beautiful nature is still Chen's greatest hobby after school. By chance, he attended the conference to commemorate the 350th anniversary of Xu Xiake's birth, which was personally presided over by President Zhu Kezhen. Zhu Kezhen spoke highly of Xu Xiake's diligence, long-term trekking and his persistence in understanding nature, and called on students to follow the example of the ancients. This sentence made Chen's blood boil and aroused his enthusiasm for geography. At his own strong request, he transferred from the Department of Education to the Department of Geography, thus realizing his ultimate wish and starting to move towards the field of geoscience research in China. Famous universities, strict teachers like clouds, he got the guidance of famous professors such as Ye, Tu and so on, and got systematic study of geoscience knowledge and strict training of basic skills in field trips. After graduation, he stayed in school as a teaching assistant and graduate student of Professor Ye.

While studying and working in Zhejiang University, Chen was also cared and taught by President Zhu Kezhen. Zhu Kezhen repeatedly encouraged him to study hard, open up a new situation in geography research and realize the modernization of geography. Xu Xiake's spirit and Zhu Kezhen's encouragement inspired Chen Pengshu to follow in their footsteps. Chen's works such as Landscape Map of Qixingyan Cave in Guilin, Karst Landscape in Southwest China and Field Textual Research of Xu Xiake's Travels in Tengchong of Nujiang River have high academic value. During the period of 1954, together with Professor Zhou Yanru and Professor Shi Yafeng, he drew Seven Stars Rock, which is a pioneering work of investigating cave rocks by using three-dimensional map method in China, and summed up the types of caves from it, making contributions to the research and development of cave rocks.

Chen, the master of remote sensing geography of the motherland, always said to people when recalling the past: "I finally lived up to Zhu Lao's hope and did what I should do." 1960, Chen began to organize manual tracking and photoelectric scanning experiments, and advocated comprehensive utilization of aerial photographs and remote sensing series mapping with the help of aerial photography.

In 1970, Chen emphasized that remote sensing will serve global research with an excellent scientist's keen sense of smell, and pointed out that satellite remote sensing is very necessary for understanding the laws of global geoscience and biology, analyzing world environmental problems and studying geographical conditions. After the publication of his Macro-analysis of the Earth by Space Remote Sensing, it has aroused widespread concern in the scientific community.

From 65438 to 0973, at the invitation of Mexican President, Chen attended the international academic conference on remote sensing application technology in the western world. At that time, remote sensing technology has gradually begun to be widely used in the world. At the end of 1970s, with the help of international satellite data, he carried out remote sensing application engineering experiments and started a series of remote sensing mapping in China. The application of remote sensing was listed as the key point of national scientific and technological research for three consecutive five years.

1978 China science and technology conference requires "to attach importance to space science remote sensing technology and satellite application research, and to build a modern space research and satellite application system." He was very excited. He advocated the establishment of the National Remote Sensing Committee, deepened the application of remote sensing scattered in various industries, went deep into the grassroots to investigate the demand and scientific strength of various departments in the country for remote sensing, and made outstanding contributions to formulating the national remote sensing development plan, organizing research, conducting academic exchanges at home and abroad, and training services.

From 65438 to 0980, with the help of computer technology and information science, Chen devoted himself to promoting the progress of China's cartographic automatic geographic information system, laying the foundation for the development and application of China's satellites, realizing the "advanced" start of the ground system, and at the same time stepping onto a new step of earth science modernization. 1983, Jiangxi cooperated with China Academy of Sciences, organized hundreds of experts, scholars and scientific and technological workers, and began a multi-disciplinary large-scale comprehensive survey lasting more than two years. 1985 established a leading group for the development and management of rivers and lakes in mountainous areas, taking mountains, rivers and lakes as a natural ecosystem for comprehensive management and taking the road of sustainable development. Determined to draw a "long green hill" on the land of Jiangxi through the efforts of several generations. Among many scientists, Academician Chen is the most exciting one. As the son of Poyang Lake and Ganjiang River, he can't forget his hometown. Immediately submitted the "Application Scheme of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System in Comprehensive Development and Management of Rivers and Lakes in Jiangxi Province".

At the beginning of the new year (1992), he wrote to Secretary Mao Zhiyong and Governor Wu Guanzheng, suggesting the establishment of a provincial remote sensing information center. He wrote down the present situation that remote sensing technology in China has entered the practical stage and the development trend of remote sensing in neighboring provinces, and expressed his wish as a Jiangxi man to contribute to the establishment of this modern experimental and popularization base for his hometown. Deeply moved, the secretary and the governor immediately wrote back and invited him to visit his hometown to make suggestions for the establishment of the provincial remote sensing center.

1993 Academician Chen can't wait to return to his hometown after 40 years' absence with the joy of serving the mulberry. The governor gave a banquet to welcome him and had a warm conversation. In the next few days, he made an academic report, introduced the development trend and trends of remote sensing in the world, investigated and studied the situation in Jiangxi Province, attended the symposium on the development strategy of remote sensing information system science and technology in Jiangxi Province, and had a discussion with the heads of departments, bureaus, hospitals and enterprises related to remote sensing and remote sensing technicians. Later, he went to Pingxiang, which was full of his teenage footprints, and listed Baizhu Village in xiangdong district as an ecological pilot village. At the same time, together with Academician Liu Tianquan, he wrote a letter to more than a dozen famous scientists in Pingxiang, put forward the proposal of "revitalizing the city through science and technology" in Pingxiang, and edited and published the Collection of Resources and Investment Environment in Pingxiang, discussing the countermeasures for the deep development and utilization of coal resources and the sustainable development of agriculture. Under the leadership and direct participation of Pingxiang Planning Commission, Dr. Fang Qiu and Master Chen Rugui were instructed to design the Pingxiang Resources and Investment Environment Assessment Information System. 200 1 At the invitation of Pingxiang Municipal Party Committee, Municipal Government and Pingxiang College, Chen became honorary president of Pingxiang College. Strive to bid for undergraduate colleges based on Pingxiang College.

On the occasion of New Year's Day in 2003, Chen personally wrote to the school to pay a New Year's greeting to the leaders of the college and the faculty of the whole school, and expressed his pleasure at seeing the development and changes of the school. Although he is in Beijing, his heart is attached to his hometown and school. He has donated books to the school and set up a counter in Pingxiang College for all teachers and students to read. So far, he has donated more than 3,000 books, more than 200 magazines, and more than 0 bundles of foreign language materials. The books he donated enriched the collection characteristics of Pingxiang University Library and made positive contributions to the development of school books.

In the early summer of 2003, entrusted by the leaders of Pingxiang Municipal Government, Li Zuqian, Party Secretary and President of Pingxiang College (now Pingxiang College), went to Beijing to visit Chen and submitted the letter of appointment of honorary president signed by Pingxiang Mayor. Later, Chen talked about the development of Pingxiang College, and the conversation lasted about two hours. Finally, Chen Ye expressed his willingness to return to Pingxiang.

On May 25, 2003, with concern for Pingxiang higher education, Chen came to Pingxiang College from Jinggangshan, never forgetting the school leaders, teachers and students, making suggestions for the school to "expand the regulations and upgrade the capital", and said that he would contribute his own waste heat to the higher education in his hometown.

Chen died at 8 pm on October 25th, 2008, at the age of 88.
