When I buy clothes, I always pack them in cartons.

Buy a small paper box or a CD packed in a paper box (if you buy too much, use a paper box+shockproof foam)

Buy one or two books, which are packed in plastic bags, and the books wrapped in gifts are packed in cartons (no bubbles).

Watches with boxes will also use plastic bags and shock-proof bubbles.
