The Academy of Fine Arts of Anhui Normal University is located in Wuhu, a water town on the bank of the Yangtze River. Founded in 1943, its predecessor was Anhui University Art Department, Anhui Art College and Hefei Teachers College. It is an art academy with the earliest establishment, the most comprehensive disciplines, the largest scale, the most fruitful scientific research results and the strongest teachers in our province. In the history of the Academy of Fine Arts, famous painters and scholars such as Shen Maozhi, Guangyuan Kun, Fang, Wang Shicen, Yun Zhenlin, Zhang Zishen and Zhai taught here successively. Over the past 60 years, a large number of artistic talents have been trained for the country, and previous graduates have been distributed all over the country.

1984 with the approval of the state education commission, the college was granted the first batch of master's degrees in fine arts, and 1988 was authorized to accept foreign students. Art building covers an area of 1.35 million square meters. The art exhibition hall and showroom cover an area of more than 900 square meters, and the exhibition effect and function are first-class in universities all over the country. The college library has a collection of 1 1300 volumes (including some Chinese and foreign picture books), 40 kinds of periodicals and 96 kinds of non-paper materials (including CDs, floppy disks, tapes and slides). The college reading room is 80 square meters with 50 seats. The college reference room is open to undergraduates all day.

The college has a long history, rich experience in running schools and strong teachers. Not only has the artistic level of art colleges and universities, but also has accumulated experience in teacher training.
