In the back cover color, philosophy is orange, historical geography is yellow, politics and law are green, and economics is blue. Do not confuse each other, reflecting the academic rigor. In the typesetting of the text, no matter the font size of the title and the text, or the form of the header and page number, there is no fancy design, which makes people feel relaxed and simple. In fact, these seemingly simple forms have been carefully discussed and planned by editors, experts and scholars many times, and the design is meticulous to the details of copyright page location, preface, catalogue and so on, even to the extreme.

Those who can enter this series are all academic classics that can stand the test of time. Every four or five years, the Commercial Press will hold a demonstration meeting on the translation of famous books into Chinese, inviting authoritative scholars in various fields to select the next series of lists. In the past 30 years, argumentation meetings have been held again and again, and a series of books have been published, which has become the largest set of Chinese translations of ideas since the reform and opening up. The series itself has also become a legend in the history of Chinese and foreign exchange of ideas.

Many readers know that this series of books began with 1982. At that time, the Commercial Press published the first batch of 50 books in the form of "Chinese translation series of world academic masterpieces". It was during China's reform and opening up that China people's pent-up enthusiasm for reading and seeking knowledge suddenly came into being. The first batch of books published by the Commercial Press reserved 500 sets as sample books in stock, but due to the enthusiastic demand of readers, the last set was not left.

At the beginning of its publication, Translation Series of World Academic Masterpieces mainly selected and translated the Chinese versions of various classic academic works from all over the world before the birth of Marxism, including six fields: politics, law, economy, philosophy, history, geography and language. In addition to the regular edition, some of these works also have hardcover edition and excerpt edition. With the passage of time, a small number of modern and contemporary foreign academic works began to enter this series, such as the academic masterpieces of Marc Bloch, Heidegger and Mahan, and the academic masterpieces of Indian and Japanese countries. In 2004, this series of "Feudal Society" also became the best seller of academic books that year.

Later, the Commercial Press also published a series of Hardcover Edition of Chinese Versions of World Academic Masterpieces and Portable Reading of Chinese Versions of World Academic Masterpieces. Especially in the "Reading with You" series, the Commercial Press specially invited a group of scholars with deep research, selected some representative works, carefully selected their contents, and embodied the essence of the original work in a narrow space, so that the "Chinese translation of academic masterpieces" is not only the pinnacle of Athens in the academic hall, but also a self-study book for ordinary readers to enrich their knowledge and self. The first batch of 10 varieties in this series are Aristotle's Politics, Plato's Republic and Hegel's Little Logic.
