The Economic Development of Yanbake
After the arrival of Europeans, the maritime trade routes were navigable, and Timbuktu's status declined, losing its former prosperity, and now it is just a poor city. However, due to its glorious history, it is still a tourist attraction and one of the seven Islamic holy cities. At present, the tourist attractions in Timbuktu include the Qionggairab Mosque built in 1327, the Sitiyaha Mosque built in15th century and the Sankel Mosque, which was once a university.
