800-word composition of cologne cathedral
Hohe Domkirche St. Peter und Maria is the largest church in Northern Europe, with a height of1.57m and a long history of 765 years. It is considered as a perfect example of Gothic architecture. This summer vacation, I was lucky enough to visit it and witnessed its grandeur and magnificence.

Before the bus arrived, from a distance, I saw the double-peaked spire of a cathedral soaring into the sky like a sword, which was amazing. At the foot of the giant, black brick's black tiles and brown walls reveal a mysterious atmosphere.

When I entered the church, I saw many devout believers praying silently with their hands folded. In front, a circle of candles surrounded the altar, and the wonderful singing of the choir echoed over the church for a long time.

Looking around, there are many colorful gods hanging on the wall. All this suddenly makes people feel that they have come to a solemn world. Looking up, I was even more surprised. Glass fragments are regularly built from the bottom up to the top of the tower. A closer look shows that there are colored paintings on it, all painted by artists at that time. Under the sunlight, the glass reflects colorful light, which is dazzling.

Take the elevator to the top of the tower and you can see the whole city of Cologne. What I see are low and scattered small houses and criss-crossing roads. This gives me a feeling that "once I climb to the top of the mountain, I will see that other mountains are short in the sky". It serves to show the grandeur and magnificence of the cathedral.

Cologne Cathedral, a treasure that has been baptized by years, is a symbol of Cologne!
