The Lotus Garden, located at No.0/97, Lotus Garden Street, Qingzhou City, Shandong Province, was the private garden of Feng Pu, a scholar of Wenhua Hall and a minister of punishments during Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty, and was called "Feng Jia Garden" by local people. Because Feng Pu lived in Wanliu Garden when he was an official in Beijing, he called his mansion in Qingzhou "accidental garden", which means "accidental garden".
Designed and built by Zhang Nanyuan, a famous rockfill artist in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. It is the only well-preserved artificial rockery in Kangxi style in China. Here are beautiful mountains and rivers, rugged rocks, scattered pavilions, winding streams and deep waterfalls, which are called national treasures. In addition to rockery, there are four strange stones: "Fu, Shou, Kang and Ning". These strange stones are exquisitely carved and unique. At that time, there was a saying that "one stone and two silvers", which showed the preciousness of these natural boulders.
Architectural characteristics of Ouyuan
Four osmanthus trees of Ming Dynasty have been planted in the garden for more than 400 years. Although the three winter jasmine trees left over from the Ming Dynasty are "senile", they will bloom a yellow flower every winter to welcome the arrival of spring.
The most attractive thing in my garden is the rockery in my garden. There are three peaks along the east and south walls of my garden. There is nothing strange at first glance, but it is interesting to study it carefully. Rockery is divided into four parts: flat, peak, stream and terrace. Each part embodies its own theme and has distinctive features, which makes the whole rockery complex but not chaotic, changing silently, with distinct levels and elegant realm.
