As a retrieval station of national newspaper index, the library can retrieve the latest edited and published national newspaper index and WTO special database. Moreover, the library has also established a navigation database of key disciplines, including five municipal key disciplines such as enterprise management, literature and art, fine arts, machinery manufacturing and automation, pathology and pathophysiology, and collected a large number of professional websites related to key disciplines, which have been put into storage respectively, providing the fastest and latest information services for the teaching and scientific research of key disciplines in Jianghan University and promoting the development of key disciplines.

Jianghan University Library consists of editing department, circulation department, reading department, network system department, reference department, comprehensive office and other business departments, which provide services such as document acquisition, cataloging, circulation, reading, inquiry, document automation management, database construction, network application training and management, software development, topic tracking, document delivery, sci-tech novelty retrieval, information consultation and user training.

Jianghan University Library adopts SAN architecture, and the total physical capacity of the storage system is 13TB. Equipped with 4 IBM minicomputer servers, 8 PC servers and 25 CISCO switches. The installed business integrated management system software, electronic reading room management software, network security software and full-text production and retrieval software can provide retrieval and network navigation services for electronic documents, network documents, characteristic databases and thematic databases, and realize the automatic management of library editing, circulation and lending, public inquiry and data statistics.
