Should university libraries be open to the public?
First of all:

If only the university library could be open to the society. Today's society is colorful, and the entertainment life is too rich for ordinary people. Movies, TV, mobile phones and the Internet all occupy many ordinary people's entertainment time. In addition, with the development of economy, everyone has money, and traveling at home and abroad is normal.

Second:

With the increase of work pressure, the pace of life is getting faster and faster. For most people, reading has changed from a simple thing to a luxury, and quiet study is becoming more and more difficult. At the same time, with the price rising, the price of books is getting higher and higher. Young post-90s choose to read e-books because of convenience and price. The university library has a large number of books, but it can't play its due role.

Of course, I understand why university libraries are closed to the public:

First of all, there are not so many people in universities to manage book borrowers in society.

Secondly, if it is open to the society for free, it will generate a lot of operating costs for colleges and universities.

Finally, too many social workers entering universities may affect students' normal study and life order.

These reasons are the reasons that restrict the opening of university libraries to the society, which are objective and inevitable.

Third:

However, as an individual, I think universities are places where knowledge is spread. If conditions permit, it is best to open the library so that more people who have not entered the university or have left the university but miss it can enter the library to read and borrow. Because in today's society, people who have reading habits can be said to be very few. Although it doesn't mean anything, it's not a bad thing to study quietly. The university library, which manages a huge collection of books, will surely become a paradise for people who like reading.
