The Harry Potter Dictionary is an online Harry Potter encyclopedia created by Harry Potter fans.

This website was founded in 2000 by the librarian Steve Vandyak.

The website contains detailed information of seven Harry Potter novels, including characters, scenes, magical animals, spells, potions and other aspects, with detailed classification and accurate textual research. In particular, the website provides a timeline of the whole Harry Potter story; The timeline contains almost all the events in the background of Harry Potter, and the timeline of the main part of the novel is even more accurate to the day. Warner Bros. once used a similar timeline in DVD, and J.K. Rowling also used it to confirm her creation. The main contents of this website include seven Harry Potter novels, basic information, chapter introduction, chapter analysis, tidbits of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, magical Quidditch Ball, and a collection of stories of poems and peas.

The Harry Potter Dictionary was awarded the honor of "Excellent Website for Harry Potter Fans" by Rowling [1].

In August 2007, Steve Vandyak decided to publish the content on the website. This Harry Potter dictionary, published by RDR Books, has 400 pages and costs $24.95. However, J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros. decided to sue the Harry Potter Dictionary for infringement to prevent the book from being published. Rowling made a statement on her official website, which made her feel sorry and sad. She also specifically mentioned that any unauthorized compilation and publication of characters and plots related to Harry Potter is an infringement.

On June 5438+February, 2008, Steve Vandeyake published a condensed version of this book, entitled Dictionary: An Unauthorized Guide to Harry Potter Novels.
