Perhaps the best place to learn about a city's past and present is to start with a museum. Every museum has a temperament, just like every cultural relic has a story. I'm also a museum manager. Every time I travel, I want to see which museums are most worth visiting. Years of study in the United States led me to some famous museums, and I was lucky enough to participate in the youth art project of the Metropolitan Museum of New York. Here, let's put aside the fame and scale of the museum for the time being and introduce two minority museums that we have always loved-Morgan Museum and Frick Collection Museum.

New york is one of the cities with the most museums in the world. /kloc-more than 0/00 museums with their own characteristics are like a group of huge cultural magnets, which firmly attract people's spiritual world. If you are just a passer-by, you must go to the Metropolitan Museum, one of the four major museums in the world, to MOMA, which has the ear of modern art, and to the Guggenheim Museum, which has a rich collection of modern European art. However, if you want to find another quiet place to waste your time in Manhattan, some relatively small museums should be your choice.

The museum is located at the intersection of 36th Street and Madison Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. It was built by the Morgan family and was originally the private study of J.P. Morgan. I think this must be the quietest place on Madison Avenue, where luxury goods gather. /kloc-the woodcarving ceiling in Britain in the 0/7th century, the priceless religious paintings in France, Italy and the Netherlands, and the century-old angel candlestick are beautiful. What is rare is that the museum is classical and elegant, gorgeous but not luxurious, and money and material have written a touching humanistic and artistic movement here. You can see the paintings of Monet, Renoir and Rembrandt. The original music of Beethoven, Mozart, Bach and other musicians; The first movable-type printed Bible inlaid with precious stones, the European rare book plated with gold foil, and the stone carving gobbledygook-the passage of time seems to be condensed here. Morgan's study is the most beautiful room in the museum, surrounded by Red Velvet walls and stained glass in the style of European churches. It mainly collects famous paintings and sculptures of the Renaissance.

In fact, the architecture of Morgan Museum is a great work of art in itself. Its appearance adopts simple and classical design, the exterior wall is pink marble, the main entrance is16th century Roman style, circular arch and double colonnade columns. The indoor rotunda and vault ceiling of the library are in harmony with this style, and the texture is emphasized by mosaic of mottled marble; In addition, the pillars of lapis lazuli and the floor of porphyry set each other off in an interesting and magnificent way. Therefore, the museum is known as "the model of American interior decoration".

The Morgan Museum will hold a wealth of special exhibitions, and the first time I go, I just catch up with the special exhibition "The Little Prince". Precious manuscripts, letters and photos of the author of The Little Prince were exhibited in the exhibition. Those manuscripts covered with cigarette burns and repeatedly deleted are precious invitations, which will take you to appreciate the process of sketching and shaping the pure fairy tale world and relive the pure touch of that day. Saint-Eck Su Pei shines clean, and even the way it disappears is so wonderful. He mysteriously disappeared on a flight. "The most important thing can only be seen with your heart." At that moment, the fairy tale in my heart merged with the castle-like museum. People have to admit that art is eternal only when prosperity fades rapidly.

The following are three characteristics that cannot be ignored when visiting from a personal point of view:

Morgan Museum is famous for its rich sketch collection. Its collection of creative drafts, sketches and complete sketches is close to 10000 pieces, covering a wide range of fields from14th century to 20th century, including sketches and prints. There are many excellent works among them. His works include Blake, Degas, Diu Lei, gainsborough, Rubens and Eduardo. Diu Lei in the collection. One of the most famous and proud collections is Rembrandt's sketches and etchings. It is said that the quantity and quality are second to none in the country. Rembrandt's copperplate prints are small in size, but the carvings are subtle and vivid, and its treatment of light is as mysterious and charming as his oil paintings. Even the prints as small as the palm of your hand have the breath and patterns of masterpieces.

Then push the manuscripts of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Morgan has a collection of 65,438+0,300 manuscripts spanning 10 centuries, including medieval and Renaissance manuscripts and manuscripts written on papyrus. In terms of quantity, the most striking one known as the crown of America is the ninth century Bible manuscript. These manuscripts are neat and dignified from beginning to end, well-proportioned and meticulous, and are accompanied by color illustrations. The essence is jewelry embedded in hard skin. Those ancient jewels are gorgeous but not kitsch, and they have a solemn sense of sacredness.

Finally, the amazing ancient seal. The ancient seals collected by Morgan are actually the smallest and most exquisite sculptures. The cylindrical seal is only one inch high and is made of stone. Figures, beasts or decorative patterns are carved around the jar, many of which are stories. Its characteristic is "intaglio carving", but it is not only the expression of lines, but also the depiction of volume. If the seal is rolled on a substance similar to clay, the printed image is as clear and vivid as a relief, which can be traced back to the phenomenon of human life before the era. One device enters the soul, precipitating immortal thoughts in the tempering of years.

I remember "The World" once wrote, "Sniff at all concrete and abstract principles". I don't deny that concreteness is always important. But sometimes, believing some abstract principles can save lives. This is like thinking about how to make a church strong and beautiful. Although it is respectable, it is more important to make people close to heaven. So we need to have the ambition to break away from the concrete occasionally, and then concretize the abstract principle.

There is a tiger in the heart and a rose in the nose. This is the perfect combination of broadness and exquisiteness of art, and it is also the best form to concretize abstract principles in the name of art.

How pure the mind is, how free the mind is. I hope that no matter how old I am and how much experience I have accumulated, I can still be "pure and evergreen".

2 Frick? frick collection

The part east of Central Park on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan is called Museum Mile. In addition to the Metropolitan Museum, there are several museums of different sizes. One mile south of the museum, the Frick Collection is located at the junction of Fifth Avenue and 70th Street, with an inconspicuous main entrance. Entering the museum, Jin Guang lost his eyes. In the early morning, there were not many passengers, and I instantly crossed into the era when the wealthy businessman Frick lived.

Everything in Frick's collection is exquisite and expensive. This neoclassical building was built by the steel magnate henry clay Frick in 19 100. Frick is a crazy painting fan and likes to sweep goods at auctions. Frick decorated his mansion with paintings he bought. He selected and assembled them himself. Each room has different themes. After dinner, he stared at a room full of paintings. Unfortunately, Frick died of a heart attack shortly after he moved in. In addition to oil paintings, Frick also bought top porcelain to match these paintings. It is said that the criticism of Frick in his early years was that he was too addicted to painting, and the main reason why he moved from Pittsburgh to new york was that the industrial pollution there would affect the preservation of his paintings. Obsession and great wealth support determine the richness and exquisiteness of his life's paintings.

From the architectural point of view, the transformation of Frick collection from residence to museum in 1930s is a successful model. The renovation plan not only expanded the exhibition space on the basis of unified style, but also created a masterpiece similar to the central fountain, which became the soul of the whole building. The architect is also the designer of the famous New York Public Library. In addition, it is not in accordance with the art genre or the layout of the art era, which makes people question the display paradigm of academic museums. On the paradigm, the organization of the National Gallery of Washington is particularly clear, which is simply art history; The layout of the Philadelphia Museum of Art is overall and solemn. The scale of the Metropolitan Museum is amazing, but due to the high density of exhibits, it should take a week to read it slowly. The layout of the Barnes Foundation is very paradoxical, and the collection is uneven, but there are juxtapositions. Frick series is extremely exquisite, showing the burning temperament of luxury houses in the gilded age. I often wonder, do people really need an orderly clue to visit museums today?

The famous Dutch national treasure painting "Girl with Pearl Earrings" is temporarily exhibited here. In a dark background, the girl's delicate skin and clear eyes melted into the light when the side light hit. Painters attach great importance to lines and shapes, which makes the characters have extraordinary accuracy and profundity. The excessive emphasis on color got rid of the extremely gorgeous Rococo period in the18th century, and produced elegant and noble inner beauty, which reflected the artistic pursuit of "quiet and big" in ancient Greece and Rome. It is true that the modern photographic light course was born out of classical oil painting. I think if there was a Vogue in the19th century, the cover girl should look like this.

The indoor garden spring is especially suitable for reading. In addition, Frick Collection Library, a wonderful and rich art history collection, is highly recommended, as long as there are photos in the mansion on the Upper East Side facing Central Park. ID can get a free library card. Imagine reading in a palace-like place and listening to the sound of spring in the garden. There is no woven stream of people, no flash, no noise, and it is as quiet as an ordinary house. Pushing the door in, it was still silent, and the sparse tourists carefully purchased tickets, which was completely different from the lively atmosphere of the metropolitan party. Perhaps it is the private atmosphere of the house that makes everyone unconsciously show it. Outside the booth window of the ticket hall is the owner's outdoor courtyard, a pool of water lilies in full bloom, with a little Zen in silence. The layout of the room is still the same as that of that year, and the explanatory drawing is also marked according to the original function: the nursery, dining room and living room all have exquisite oak floors and gorgeous carpets, and the fabric sofa is embroidered with famous paintings. All furniture, lamps and accessories are luxurious and elegant, showing the owner's wealth and artistic taste everywhere.

Furniture, porcelain, enamel, sculpture, and the most famous is oil painting. Among them, Baroness Hausenville and General and Smiling Girl are impressive. The former is so exquisite and vivid that her quiet eyes seem to be everywhere, and the shiny satin dress is within reach. The bright sunshine that the latter shines on the girl through the window makes you have to sigh its wonderful light and shadow effect again and again. This private collection contains four oil paintings and many sketches by Rembrandt, among which the most famous self-portrait was created in 1658. The loud texture of brass seems to bring a heavy metal tone to the room. It is said that there are only over 30 Vermeer's works in the world, and little Frick has two in his collection. Famous artists in European art history, such as Angel, Renoir, Titian, grieco, hals, Fragona, Boucher, constable and Turner, are hung on Frick's wall in rows. The works of Boucher and Fragona give people a lively, flashy and romantic impression. These works, because they embody the flashy life of European royal families and nobles, are also favored by emerging American nobles. During the visit, I couldn't help sighing that these paintings seemed to be tailor-made for this room. The strength of that tree, the weakness of a flower, the shelter space in the Woods and the shock of the vast grassland are not "hung" on the wall, but painted on the wall. If you want to remember too many details, you will often consume memory and only keep one frame.

Looking around, countless glittering colored gems, the ancient king smiled on the wall. In the middle of the empty palace, there is also a throne carved in ebony, which is covered with white dust. The long and dark corridor is full of exquisite light and shadow games. In it, people seem to have carefully touched the yellowed marble pane, sticking their heads out of the solidified rose holes in the marble and covering their palms. The smell of dusk, the leaves covering half a window, seems to meet the thick smoke of people crossing the years in the painting.

Yes, you can't see every trace of dust flying in the light until everyone is dispersed and everything is calm.
