Ye Jing Middle School was founded in the 13th year of Qingganlong (1748) with a history of 257 years. Now it is the oldest famous school in Shanghai. According to Qing Jiaqing's "Shanghai County Records", "Ye Jing Academy was originally named Shenjiang Academy, which is located in the north of the county headquarters, also known as Pan Enfu." In the 13th year of Qianlong (1748), Weng Zao and Wang Guan, then the magistrate of a county in Shanghai, took the lead in donating money to renovate and transform Shichun Hall into a lecture hall, and named it "Shenjiang Academy" as a place for students to attend classes every month. In the thirty-fifth year of Qianlong (1770), patrolman Yang Kui raised funds to rebuild the college and renamed it Ye Jing College.
