Sponsored by the Reading Society of Taiwan Province Province, jointly organized by the Institute of Education of National Taiwan Province Normal University and the Institute of Library and Information Science of National Taiwan Province Normal University, and co-organized by the National Library Teacher Counseling Group of the Ministry of Education, Liang Weiming, Chairman of the Hong Kong Cultural Care Charity Foundation, and school educators from Beibeiji, Taoyuan and Taichung were invited to share and discuss the reading dilemma of junior high school students and the solutions for teachers to let reading enter their lives through curriculum design.
Although the importance of reading has been recognized by most parents and teachers, junior high school students are directly facing the pressure of further education, and "extracurricular books" are still contraband under the principle of further education. "Our children's books are in the Student Affairs Office! A junior high school teacher at the forum said that children at teaching points don't dislike reading, but are not encouraged. Reading is still regarded by teachers as an activity opposite to learning, so reading during learning will be regulated and prohibited.
However, in the face of the future learning trend, reading literacy is the basis of all subjects' learning, and it is also the key ability to cultivate children's lifelong ability to search for information and solve problems. Why does entering a higher school become an obstacle to cultivating reading? What exactly is reading?
