Beijing Top Ten Contemporary Architecture Selection Background
The selection of the top ten buildings is a traditional "competition" in Beijing's construction industry. The selection of the top ten buildings in Beijing was first made in 1950s. In order to welcome the 10 anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), the Great Hall of the People, the Museum of Chinese Revolutionary History (now the National Museum of China) and other 10 large-scale architectural projects were built, which became new landmarks of ancient Beijing at that time.
