In the first year, I studied at Elford Valentine High School near the town of Elford, and transferred to Cambridge College of Arts and Technology through O-Level. 1976. Today: after studying for two years as an art undergraduate, she entered the Central Saint Martin Art Institute & 1978. Design) textile design major.
Barbara Yung got a bachelor's degree in literature. After graduation, she joined the company of Charles, a famous British designer, as an assistant designer.
After working for half a year, she returned to Hong Kong.
She lived in Cambridge and London for eight years before she died. Weng's mother still lived in England after 1985 died, so her family set her cemetery in Cambridge.
Weng is buried in Cambridge, England. It has been my long-cherished wish to visit her grave for many years. 20 1 1 August, finally happened.
Before I went to Hong Kong in May 2009, I was a little worried when I learned the news of influenza A (H 1N 1) in Hong Kong. Before going to Britain this time, the news was "20 1 1 British riots".
My parents are very worried about my trip to England. August 2 1 Arrived in London, and found that London was very calm and there was no riot scene in China.
On the streets of London, I occasionally meet three or two tourists with maps like me, or people walking with dogs, and of course beggars scattered on the streets. The beggars here look neatly dressed, and even sleep on the streets in hotel suits and white quilts. My colleague later told me that we should call them homeless, not beggars. )
First, I went to Harrods Department Store. After graduation, Weng's first job was to design products and intend to sell them to Harrods Department Store. Most shops in London close at 6 pm, so I stopped outside the department store. The window design in London is quite eye-catching, compared with the domestic furnishings, there is indeed a big gap. The reputation of the creative capital is not arbitrary. Harold's department store is showing some handicrafts from Indonesia. Later, when I saw the street view, I found that the shops in London really liked the specialties of Southeast Asia, which was probably related to colonial history. Another gossip is that Harrods Department Store is an asset owned by Princess Diana's boyfriend's father, so there is also a small exhibition about Diana (this is what the tour guide said, I have never seen it).
After watching Harrods, I will go north. Quiet communities and deserted streets along the way are all scenery. So I wandered all the way to Hyde Park. Rest on a park bench and watch young people push their children's trolleys, parents and bicycles until Xia Hong fades, and then return to the hotel along a quiet street.
I came to London to attend a visit to a non-profit organization in London organized by the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy. After my daily visit, I started my own "Looking for Barbara Yung" campaign.
On the morning of August 22nd, we went to the conference room of Charing Cross Hotel in Guo Man for a meeting. When the bus arrived at its destination, the tour guide said that the National Gallery was just ahead of the road. Weng took photos here before his death, but our schedule was too tight to watch it up close and there was no time to go in for artistic edification, but I was already satisfied. The meeting place is at the subway entrance of Charing Cross Street, not far from the famous bookstore No.84, but unfortunately, it has been demolished and is no longer a bookstore.
In the afternoon, I visited the children and people's supermarket. Coincidentally, these two places are very close to St. Martin's Art Institute where Weng studied, and it takes only 10 minutes to walk. After the visit, I arranged the following trips: Saint Martin Art Institute, Belser Avenue (the street where Weng rented an apartment before his death), * * * and the Chinese school of the association (Weng taught Chinese here before his death, and the proceeds from the auction of his posthumous works were also donated to the school buildings here).
When I arrived at St. Martin's Art Institute, the doorman was about to lock the door, so I walked around the hall.
Get on the bus at Holborn subway station near St. Martin's Art Institute, and arrive at Belsaids Park subway station. The exit is Belsaids Avenue. Go southwest along Belser Avenue and come to a church, St. Peter's Church Belser Park (according to Rob, they often walk in the small garden near their apartment, I'm not sure if this is the right one). I sat on a bench in this church for a while. It happened that an old man came for a walk with a little dog Daphne. I remember Weng loves dogs, too. I wonder if she asked the dog to tell me that I found the right place.
There is a bus next to the church (it may be No.268, there is only one bus line here) to the Swiss hut subway station. When you arrive at this station, you can transfer to Bus No.82 at the same place to get to Barker Street Station. You can go by subway, but you can also have seats on the bus to see the scenery, so I try to arrange bus routes to meet the viewing needs. Go straight south from Barker Street, turn left at Paddington Street, and then you will see the intersection of Kenrick Square, the first path on the right.
These three places are not far apart. I walk slowly and have a rest, about 2.5 hours.
On August 23rd, we visited Cohen Street community on the south bank of London. There is a fair trade shop called Genesha in this community, which mainly sells handicrafts from India. I bought two products from two different fair trade organizations: a village and Kolkata relief organization. In the afternoon, I visited the London Wetland Park.
After that, I went to the Burger King in Leicester Square (Weng used to work here), China City (Weng invited Rob to attend the New Year in China City, where her legacy was put up for auction) and Buckingham Palace (Weng once took photos with Weng Mu and Tom here).
Get out of Leicester Square subway station, turn right at the first crossing on the right, and you will see Burger King. Turn left from here, then turn right, and you will come to China City. Less than 10 minute walk from Fiona Fang. There is no.38 bus in China City, which can take you to Victoria Station, and you can walk to Buckingham Palace from here. The nearest transportation to Buckingham Palace is a special tourist route, but I watched Les Miserables at the Queen Theatre near China City that day. It was late at the end, and the tour bus was closed. ) Many scenic spots in London are being repaired for the Olympic Games, so all the scenic spots I photographed have scaffolding.
The study visit will be arranged from 24th to 26th. After 26th, I began to plan my trip to Cambridge.
I left the hotel at 7: 30am on 27th, arrived at King's Cross Station, and bought a return ticket from London to Cambridge for ***42. (I found from the Raiders that you can buy cheaper tickets by booking in advance, but you are a stranger and have limited time, so you have to go to the ticket booth to buy tickets. In other strategies, you can also take a transportation card to Cambridge, but I asked the staff and saidno. On the platform of the 1-8 train, you can have a look at the location of Harry Potter movies.
I took the 8:44 train. There are several kinds of trains from London to Cambridge, some are through trains, some are through stops, but the fares are all the same. And there is no time on the ticket, which is more convenient. The train that went in the morning happened to be a bullet train, and it took 45 minutes to get there. Cambridge Railway Station is very small, and there is a Max & Spencer department store in the station. I ran in to buy flowers first, but I didn't hesitate to buy yellow roses with fair trade certification. Of course, another reason is that the product description of this rose is guaranteed to last for a week, and there is also a nutrient solution that can make the flowers bloom longer. It is a good thing to send flowers to Weng and bring reasonable income to Kenyan farmers at the same time.
When I got on the Citi 3 bus in Cambridge, the conductor asked me if I needed to buy a 3.5-pound pass so that I could take all the Cambridge buses in one day. I told the driver where I was going and the driver asked me to sit in the front seat. At the platform, he let me off and showed me the direction of the cemetery. Before, a tour guide said that he would get off when he saw a McDonald's. I didn't see this store. In short, go straight from the bus stop, turn right at the intersection, and you will see a small church on the right side of the road, only the size of a house. There is a forest across the road. I saw the tombstone through a gap in the forest.
Many people began to get lost as soon as they entered the cemetery. Actually, it's very simple. There is a sign at the entrance of the cemetery with the number of the tombstone written on it. 20079 is located in area 29, with cement road on the left hand and Weng's grave above the right hand.
After I entered the cemetery, I also met the legendary cemetery keeper, an old English lady. She said hello to me. "It's a beautiful day." I answered her, "Yes". I guess the old lady knew I was coming to see Weng and saw that I was on the right path. There are indeed many white heart-shaped tombstones in the cemetery. It takes a long time to find Weng according to this shape.
As mentioned in the Raiders, I saw two rows of cross tombstones, which were erected for the soldiers who died in World War II. After that, the cement road is over. I saw the back of a heart-shaped tombstone in front of my right hand. I am so familiar with Weng's tomb that I can confirm that it is her tomb by looking at the back.
Turning to the front of the cemetery, I saw what I had been worried about. There are many flowers in Aon cemetery, and people who have been here recently can be judged according to the degree of flower withering. So I began to clean up and remove the withered bouquet. It happened that when I bought flowers in the supermarket, I asked for a big plastic bag, which was just big enough. Some withered petals began to rot and scattered all over the floor. At this time, I can only use my quick wits and use a bunch of defeated chrysanthemums as a broom to clean. Some souvenirs left by Weng fans were removed one by one, cleaned and then moved back. I accidentally cut my right hand halfway, but it's just a skin injury. It's no big deal.
Finally, I inserted a big bouquet of roses, and of course I didn't forget to put the nutrient solution in. At this time, an English woman who was also cleaning the cemetery in front asked me if I wanted water. Fortunately, a flower pot in front of Weng's grave accumulated some rain. I said thank you, but I said no.
Because it often rains in England, the tombstone is clean, but there is a worm's remains on it, so I wipe it with rose wrapping paper. Then I turned to the back of the tombstone and noticed a China man wandering 50 meters away. So I asked him if he was also looking for Weng, and he said yes. He studied in Ireland and has finished his studies. Before returning home, he made a special trip to visit the cemetery of Aon. I was already in the cemetery at 9: 30, and I arrived at 10:20. But after I cleaned the cemetery, he didn't find me. Perhaps it was because he regarded me as a China native that he finally confirmed that he had found Weng's tombstone.
We two strangers met at Weng's grave. I think Weng likes to see this scene.
I brought Weng village moon cakes made in Beijing (later I entrusted this box of moon cakes to the clerk in Histon and gave it to Weng's mother) and God chocolate made in London (I also used this brand of chocolate for my wedding candy).
Then, I will show a greeting card with the ID of Weng Fan's hope that Yishui will recover. Finally, I put this card and my letter to Aon in a plastic bag and put it behind the tombstone.
I stayed in the cemetery for about an hour, so I left first, because I had to go to his cemetery. As for the foreign student, he said that he had a hard time finding Weng, so he had to stay a little longer. I think he needs time alone with Weng.
Or go back to get off, and the opposite station is the platform for returning to the city. The interval of Citi 3 is 10 minute. When you wait for the bus and drive back, you will get back to the city 12.
Get off at EMMANUEL Street and get off at Citi No.8 on St. Andrew Street (towards Cottenham) where it intersects.
Because the previous strategy was unclear, the driver of Citi 8 was not sure at which stop to get off at Station 6 (because the station road is still a long way, some passengers suggested that I get off in the middle of this road and look for it again. So I got off at an unknown bus stop. There are few people in this town. After waiting for someone for five minutes, I asked for directions. This friendly friend drew me a simple map. So I spent a lot of money and finally found this place.
The following is the route map I compiled, and get off at Citi 8 (towards Cottenham) in St. Andrew Street, Cambridge (because it is 6 stops away from Kingston Village Fryer, the nearest bus stop sign says the departure form Impinton Village College, so I guess the name of the station. There are three lines on the bus stop sign, which are impington, Station Road and Opppoplar Road. Of course, if you come for the first time, it is difficult to see the name of the stop sign. There is a very simple way to tell the driver that you are going to Kingston Baptist Church. Because this church is still very big, I believe most drivers will recognize it. If you sit on the left side of the bus, you can always pay attention to the two brick-red church buildings on the left side of the road (with a small house connected in the middle).
Go left along the church, you will see the gas station mentioned in the original raiders, and it is easy to find the No.6 fish steak shop by comparing the house number. The cashier in the shop can speak Cantonese, and the male shopkeeper can communicate in Chinese. He told me that Weng's mother lives in Milton now, but they visit her every few weeks, so he can help me bring this box of moon cakes to her.
I bought a set meal of fish steak and chips in the store, which is a takeaway shop. There were no tables and chairs in the shop, so I went to a path next to the shop and ate under a tree in a clearing. The place where you eat is one yard away from Weng's yard, and you can't see the situation in the yard. Weng's home is in the middle of a row of houses, with buildings on both sides. It is difficult to see the situation behind the shop.
After dinner, I will walk to Hixton Baptist Church and wait for the bus. The interval of Citi 8 is 20 minutes. Wait for the bus and drive back, 14:20 back to the city.
Also get off at Emanuel Street downtown, and there is Citi 7 (Tower Sawstone &; Saffron Walden), you can take this bus to the community where Rob lives (Trump Inton Gazeley Road Little Kesland), and it is also the place where Rob took photos with Weng in the published photos. But when it comes to time, it takes 70 minutes to go back and forth, and the interval between Citi 7 and Citi 7 is 30 minutes. And I have one more important thing to do, which is to send postcards to Weng fans. So I'm going to send postcards first, and then I'll arrange to visit Rob's community when I have time. It turns out that I made a correct decision because I spent some time buying and writing postcards. Later, I visited Anglia Ross University (that is, Weng's university). If I go to Rob's house, domestic fans probably won't get postcards.
The post office in Cambridge doesn't sell postcards. So, go to the nearby bookstore and market to buy it. It took me a little time to find the bookstore, but it's not far, just the road is unfamiliar. Then buy all the postcards and queue up at the post office to buy stamps. Then I wrote the morning trip on the postcard, which took me some time. Anyway, by the time I sent all the postcards, it was already 4 pm.
I met the Cambridge Fair Trade Association in a cafe on Market Street at about 16:45, so I just wandered around the market for a while. Later, when the time came, I met two local Pat and Tom who advocated fair trade. The conversation was of course about fair trade, but then they casually asked me where I had been in Cambridge and where I planned to go after the meeting.
Then I said that I went to the cemetery in the morning, and then I went to Anglia Ruskin University. I didn't expect Tom to work at Anglia Ruskin University. He said he would try to take me in. Of course, he is also very curious about the "Asian Star" Weng who was in the same school more than 20 years ago.
So I don't need to take the time to ask for directions to find Anglia Rothschild University, because I walked with Tom.
Because Tom worked in this university, he explained to the doorman that I was a friend from China, so he came in to visit. Tom told me that the new building of the university was not completed until last month, and I was the first person to visit the campus after the renovation, because the school has not yet started. It makes me feel honored. Tom showed me around part of the old campus, especially the building of the library and art department.
Then we said goodbye, and I walked along the campus to Guest Road 2 1, which was the address provided by Rob by email before departure. In those days, he often rented here, often had parties, and Weng came occasionally. But then I sent a photo to Rob, and he said I had the wrong number. I stood near this place and photographed the house across the street.
Finally, I went to the curry garden restaurant on Regent Street 106. According to Rob, he and Weng like to eat here.
It was 19:20 when I arrived at the above place, so I gave up my plan to go to Luobu's house and went to the railway station instead. Later, I caught the 19:45 train back to London. Unexpectedly, this train stops at every station. It was already after 2 1:00 when I arrived in London, and it was already 22:00 when I returned to the hotel.
On 28th, the day before returning home, we went to Windsor Castle. If you fly at London Heathrow Airport, you usually pass by Windsor Castle, so this is the last stop for most tourists. We are no exception.
Weng Sui and other artists have been here when they came to Europe.
