Lu Xun's home was originally rented in the mainland new village in Shanghai. After Lu Xun's death, he left a manuscript of millions of words. In order to prevent the Kuomintang people from searching, Xu Guangping quietly moved home with the help of young writer Xiao Jun, moved Lu Xun's manuscripts and household items to No.64 Xiafeifang, and then hid them in the coal pile in the corner of the kitchen.
In order to publish The Complete Works of Lu Xun as soon as possible, at the beginning of 1937, under the planning of Xu Guangping and his friends Xu Shoushang, Tai Jingnong, Hu Yuzhi and others, an editorial committee of The Complete Works of Lu Xun with Cai Yuanpei, Mao Dun and Zhou Zuoren as main members was established.
In order to publish the Complete Works of Lu Xun as soon as possible, Hu Yuzhi set up a publishing agency named "Fushe" to publish the Complete Works of Lu Xun and other progressive books under the circumstances of sinister environment, tight funds and very difficult publishing. He also considered that the publication of the Complete Works of Lu Xun would be interfered by the Kuomintang authorities under the political conditions at that time, so he thought of asking Cai Yuanpei, chairman of the "Mr. Lu Xun Memorial Committee", to write the title of the Complete Works of Lu Xun, and the authorities did not dare to move.
1April, 938, Hu Yuzhi went to Hong Kong from Shanghai to report the publishing plan of The Complete Works of Lu Xun to Cai Yuanpei and Soong Ching Ling, the chairman and vice-chairmen of the "Mr. Lu Xun Memorial Committee". Cai Yuanpei improvised four characters of The Complete Works of Lu Xun. 1 year before June, I also wrote Subscription to Complete Works of Lu Xun and Preface to Complete Works of Lu Xun. Cai Yuanpei spoke highly of Lu Xun in the preface, calling him a "pioneer" of new literature. Hu Yuzhi's "move" really worked. With Cai Yuanpei's seniority and reputation in the Kuomintang, he avoided the interference of the authorities. Xu Guangping also wrote an inscription for The Complete Works of Lu Xun.
How to solve the problem of insufficient funds for publishing books? Hu Yuzhi has come up with another way: in addition to booking the cheap issue of ordinary books, he should also print a set of refined commemorative books with an advance payment of 100 yuan. With this advance payment, a general edition and a commemorative edition of The Complete Works of Lu Xun will be published. Under the enthusiastic call of Hu Yuzhi, Mao Dun, Ba Jin, Shen Junru and Tao Xingzhi, he received a batch of book purchase deposits from some patriots and overseas Chinese in Chinese mainland, Southeast Asia and the United States, and finally solved the problem of publishing funds.
With the efforts of Lu Xun's relatives and friends and people from all walks of life, from April 65438 to April 0938, the first complete works of Lu Xun with 20 volumes and 6 million words was published in three editions: a commemorative edition was gilded with red cloth, and it was a hardcover edition; The second kind of commemoration is leather ridge bronzing, and the whole set is made of nanmu box; The third edition is an ordinary paperback edition. 200 sets of B commemorative book number printing, not for sale. A commemorative edition is sold in 50 yuan. The format of the popular version is the same as that of the text version and the commemorative version. The cover is red, the spine is hardcover, and the text is printed on newsprint. Price 8 yuan.
August 1938, 10, 20 volumes of Complete Works of Lu Xun were officially released. As Xu Guangping said in the Postscript of the Complete Works of Lu Xun: "The complete works of more than six million words were actually completed in three months, which really opened a miracle in China's publishing industry." 1973 12, People's Literature Publishing House published 20 volumes of Complete Works of Lu Xun with the following titles:

New edition of Talking about Radium
Over the past 20 years, with the continuous development of humanities and Lu Xun's studies, experts and readers have discovered some shortcomings of the 198 1 version: Lu Xun's lost articles and letters have been discovered continuously, and the annotations at that time have their historical limitations. In addition, there are some words that have been planted and arranged by mistake. More importantly, the important achievements of Lu Xun's research should be reflected in the complete works. Where is the new edition of The Complete Works of Lu Xun? Its revision principle is "based on the version of 198 1, the supplement is insufficient and the revision is wrong". According to the final version, the new edition of The Complete Works of Lu Xun has been increased from 16 to 18, with one volume of letters and one volume of diaries. * * * has created 10 volume, four volumes of letters and three volumes of diaries, with the index of 1, with a total word count of about 7 million words. Compared with 198 1 version, the revision of the Complete Works of Lu Xun focuses on three aspects: adding lost letters; Textual collation of the original work; Addition and modification of comments.
Receiving scheduling
Letters and diaries have been added by one volume each. This revision added 23 lost articles and 20 lost letters, and 68 original letters from Lu Xun to Xu Guangping, which compiled 654.38+10,000 words for Lu Xun and Masuda's questions and answers. Qiu Shixiong, a member of the revised editorial board and director of Shaoxing Lu Xun Memorial Hall, said that among the 23 lost articles identified, the content involved the collation of ancient books, the introduction of foreign writers' works and mourning articles, and the genre included prose and poetry, which reflected the change of Lu Xun's literary creation path and the evolution of his thoughts. Among them, 19 12, 1 published the article "Painful words in the military field" which is particularly important. This paper exposes some bad behaviors of Guangfu Association in Shaoxing after the Revolution of 1911. At that time, it touched some people in the Guangfu Army. They checked against this article, and the military style changed. Compared with articles that increase income, the letter increases the amount of income more. Among the 20 newly discovered lost letters, many were written by Lu Xun to celebrities and foreign friends such as Zhang, Cai Yuanpei, Soong Ching Ling, Hu Shi, Jiang, Yu Dafu and Shen. One of them is a letter written by Lu Xun to Soong Ching Ling and Cai Yuanpei in 1933, which is very precious. The contents of these letters cover a wide range, including cultural exchanges, academic discussions and life, reflecting Lu Xun's ideological activities and life experiences in various periods. In the Book of Two Places published by Guangqing Bookstore 1933, Lu Xun made many modifications to the original letter during the editing process, including abridging the contents and adding some words, while Lu Xun copied and saved all the original letters. But when The Complete Works of Lu Xun 198 1 was published, Lu Xun's original letter had not been published. In this revision, Lu Xun's original books and letters were compiled into a letter volume together with other letters of Lu Xun in chronological order, which not only preserved the integrity of the book as an independent version, but also enabled readers to get a glimpse of the whole picture of Lu Xun's original books and letters. Lu Xun and Mao Dun jointly sent a letter to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to congratulate the Red Army on its victory in the crusade. The full text is found in 1995. However, experts believe that this letter has no original basis and its writing style is completely different from that of Lu Xun. Moreover, it is impossible to prove that this letter has been reviewed by Lu Xun, and there are many uncertainties. However, it is true that Lu Xun and Mao Dun jointly wrote to the Central Committee. This letter is of great documentary significance. It was published before Lu Xun's death and should be reflected in the complete works. In the revised edition, this letter is included in the appendix of the letter volume as information that readers can easily find. According to Wang Haibo, a member of the revised editorial board and director of the Modern Literature Editorial Office of People's Literature Publishing House, the new edition of The Complete Works of Lu Xun also deleted "To the North Russian National Choir" which was deemed not to belong to Lu Xun's letters.
check
More than 65,438+0,000 places have been changed. According to preliminary statistics, more than 1000 places were corrected in this revision, which made the text of Lu Xun's works more accurate. For example, Zhang Mengyang, who is in charge of the revision of the second volume of the Complete Works, said that from Vanilla Garden to Morning Flowers, he wrote "I" and set up a bamboo screen to cover the birds according to the method taught by the father who moistened the soil. "Obviously, I saw them go in and took a look at the rope, but there was nothing. They have been urged to live for a long time, but only three or four. " The "urging work" here is the fault of "rushing", and a mistake is a mistake for decades. After Zhang Mengyang discovered this mistake, he did not revise it easily, but carefully consulted the original text published in the semi-monthly magazine Mangyuan 1926, and revised it after confirming that it was correct. Another example is the "big red flower and spotted red flower" in the "Good Story" of "Weeds", floating in the water, suddenly breaking and stretching, and the rouge water is constant, but it is not dizzy. "The continuous rouge water here should be continuous rouge water. When this article was published in Yusi Weekly, the word "Ru" was omitted. Lu Xun made a correction in the magazine that year, but he didn't change it when he received it. Collation like this seems to be a change of a word, but it needs a lot of rigorous and meticulous textual research to change the word.
To annotate ...
In order to revise the Complete Works of Lu Xun more objectively, fairly and scientifically, Lin Fei and Chen Shuyu, deputy directors of the editorial board, believe that the revision of the annotations of the Complete Works of Lu Xun has taken a big step forward, and the annotations with explanatory content, political and critical colors in the original annotations have been appropriately revised and abridged, and objectivity is the pursuit of new annotations. In this revision, the annotations are more objective, and they do not discuss or explain the meaning of Lu Xun's original text, nor comment on the object of annotations, but they respect history and cannot avoid the question of right and wrong. For example, the comments of crescent school, modern critics school, "the third kind of person" and related figures all deleted the evaluation and only introduced the situation objectively. According to the annotation purpose of "providing relevant information and knowledge for readers with secondary education level and reference value for readers with higher education level", more than 900 annotations were added in this revision, and the original annotation 1000 was significantly revised. The revision of Chinese and foreign characters alone reached more than 900 people.
