Meet "Kiev"
The plane finally landed at Kiev airport. It's already half past 0. Because the plane took off late, the plane was overweight and the engine was overloaded, our original 9-hour flight became 12 hours or more. On the way, the plane turned to Moscow because of a malfunction. When hovering in the brightly lit night sky in Moscow, we all thought we had arrived in Kiev. When we were told to have a short rest in Moscow, everyone fell silent again. The narrow plane space, bumpy flight, the plane failure that is told from time to time, and the tired aviation food all make the novice pilots lose their freshness. At the empty Kiev airport with only a few lights, we boarded the bus from school.
Soon, the joy of finally arriving at school was swept away by the shabby and dirty dormitory in front of us, and the dream of a clean and tidy student apartment outlined by the intermediary propaganda was shattered by the reality in front of us. A large room similar to a family apartment is divided into four small rooms, each with two or three people. Although it doesn't look as crowded as bunk beds in domestic student dormitories, soft spring beds and exaggerated dirty pillows are unacceptable to us at the moment. I really don't know that the school only charged 700 dollars, and the intermediary agency charged 65438 dollars +0.500 tuition. Everyone felt cheated, and several female students shed tears at that time. Some people say that "we are here to study, and the conditions are almost irrelevant", so under the support of this belief, we left home for two nights and one day.
In the next few days, several old classmates led us to purchase daily necessities and get familiar with the surrounding environment. Everyone quickly cooked the first meal after leaving home. Although the taste is not good, they still eat with relish and taste each other's skills. At this time, we found another strange phenomenon in Kiev: there are several wells next to every resident and dormitory building, and many residents are drilling wells. Upon inquiry, it was learned that due to the leakage accident at Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine a few years ago, residents were worried that the polluted water source would leave radiation hazards, so they drank it from deep wells. Influenced by local residents, we also began to draw water and drink in the days to come. Kiev thus taught us the first lesson of studying abroad.
Preparatory life in Ukraine
According to our chosen major, the Foreign Affairs Office of the Preparatory Department of Kyiv National University of Architecture has divided us into four classes: arts, science, medicine and architecture, with less than 10 students in each class. We are equipped with experienced and responsible teachers who have taught China students many times. When we sit in the classroom and listen to the teacher, the feeling of being cheated gradually disappears. The teacher teaches directly in Russian. At first, I didn't understand at all. Teachers are in no hurry. They repeatedly use gestures and body language to explain. Sometimes, in order to understand a few words, they will take us directly outdoors and repeatedly teach us to remember with objects. Many times, we record the teacher's lectures and listen to them repeatedly against dictionaries and notes. As we get to know each other better, sometimes teachers will use newly learned Chinese to explain words we don't understand, and ask some students who understand faster to coach and drive slower students. It is precisely because of this relaxed and novel teaching method that students have made rapid progress in Russian, and soon everyone will talk and shop with local people in some simple daily languages. Ukraine is one of the oldest countries in Europe. The ancient city of Kiev has a simple folk customs, a long culture and a good geographical environment and social security. The long and profound friendship between the people of China and China makes the local residents welcome us Uzbek students very much. Good educational foundation, relaxed and novel educational environment and methods make us adapt to Russian learning quickly. Nine months later, I graduated with 5 points (full marks) in each subject.
At this time, I feel that I can completely adapt to the study and life abroad, but the problem of "Ukrainian" has affected my further study. Since Ukraine has been independent for many years, all universities teach in Ukrainian, and Ukrainian has been used more than Russian in people's daily life. But our pre-science students are all Russian. In order to choose a major, several classmates and I once hired a tutor to help Ukrainian, but because of the short time, we didn't get much. Then I visited almost all universities in Kiev, and many of my favorite and suitable majors were discouraged by Ukrainians. At the same time, faced with the practice of Russian teaching for China students in some universities, I'm afraid that I can't fully learn knowledge due to language restrictions. So I aimed at the Russian learning institution, the world-Moscow University. Although the director of the preparatory school wanted me to stay in Kiev, I finally signed the application letter and welcomed me to Kiev in the future. Other teachers also feel sorry for my departure and wish me better results in Moscow. After repeatedly contacting the Foreign Affairs Office of Moscow University in the Russian I just learned and filling out many complicated forms, I received a great invitation letter. I rushed to the Russian embassy in Ukraine to apply for an entry visa. The staff of the consulate warmly handed me an entry visa and wished me luck in Moscow in pure Russian! I bid farewell to Kiev, which I just knew, and dozens of classmates who went with me, dragging three suitcases to Moscow.
moscow does not believe in tears
Knowing in advance that Moscow University would not arrange dormitories for students who didn't go through the admission formalities, my father asked a friend to contact a China classmate who was studying at Moscow University and took me to the dormitory of a female classmate who was on vacation in China.
It is not accurate to say that some domestic intermediaries repeatedly publicize that they can enter the world without passing the exam. When I submitted all the formalities to the Foreign Affairs Office of the University of Mexico, I was told that I had to take the Russian proficiency level 1 exam at the International Education Center of the University of Mexico before I could enter the school. Only if you get good grades can you enter the school. So I found the dormitory where the preppie students lived, borrowed the textbooks compiled by the International Education Center of Moda from a preppie student who had already had a holiday, and spent a night "gnawing" them all. After returning it to others the next day, I hurried back to the dormitory, dug out my notes in Ukraine from the suitcase I had never opened before and reviewed it from the beginning. Get up before 6 o'clock in the morning, have lunch only at noon, and go to bed after 12 o'clock in the evening. Because there is no bedding, I can only lie in bed at night with clothes covered with sheets. Nobody cares about me, let alone me ... In those days, except practicing Russian with myself every day, I seemed to live in a deaf-mute vacuum world! Three days later, I braved the heavy rain alone and went to the International Education Center of the University of Mexico to take a two-day separate exam. On the last day of oral composition, the teacher learned that I was studying in Ukraine, which invisibly increased the intensity of the exam. Finally, after I answered all the questions, the teacher satisfactorily signed "excellent grades, admitted to the department" Looking at this simple Russian sentence and thinking about my tortuous journey from a failed college entrance examination student to the world, I was too excited to speak for a while.
The newly learned Russian vocabulary is limited, and Moscow people speak at an amazing speed! The way to do the same thing in different places at the same time is even more incomprehensible. So, I met a lot of troubles and countless nails. In this strange environment, I use a strange language to deal with such a strange program. Really realized what is called "a stranger"! What's more, Moscow people have a strange sense of direction. When asking for directions, you will only hear them tell you to "go ahead and turn right at the intersection …". Sometimes you don't understand, but after a long turn, you go back to your original place. Once, in order to stamp a stamp, I finally found a place and invited someone to lunch five minutes later. Anyway, I didn't stamp it for me and asked me to come back in the afternoon. When I went back, I was afraid that I didn't have time or I couldn't find this place in the maze-like main building. I stood in the corridor at noon and waited, without eating or drinking. I couldn't describe the sadness in my heart when I looked at the people coming and going. In this way, I endured unbearable loneliness, overcame many unexpected difficulties, overcame the idea of giving up many times, and finally completed the formalities before entering the school and joining the job.
I broke all my luggage into pieces and the ants moved into their dormitory. The Beijing girl in the same unit enthusiastically helped me clean up the room, and the Shandong fellow who works on the fifth floor also kindly took me to the market to buy quilts, pots and other daily necessities. With their help, I quickly installed the computer and telephone. On the day of the call, Shandong fellow villagers said, "Call home quickly to report peace!" It suddenly occurred to me that I haven't contacted my family for more than ten days! So he ran out to buy a long-distance phone card and dialed the home phone. Dad's question hasn't been finished yet, and mom took the microphone away again. "Son, what's wrong with you? Why haven't I contacted my family for ten days? " My nose is sour, I hold back my tears and tell them in a happy voice: "I'm fine!" " The formalities are all done! The dormitory is also arranged! With the phone, you can contact your family at any time ... "At the other end of the phone, mom and dad didn't talk for a long time, only heard their heavy gasps. Finally, my father said strongly, "Pay attention to safety, have a good rest and take care of yourself!" " "Afterwards, dad used" ants on hot bricks "to describe their mood for more than ten days. ...
In the next few days, I was always moved by everything around me. In the early morning, the floor health personnel knocked on the door gently, scrubbed the floor of the already clean unit, bathroom and toilet with a rag, and then quietly left; The natural gas stove in the corridor kitchen is always polished by students from all over the world with their own rags after meals; Enthusiastic neighbors send me endless vegetables and apples from time to time; And the waiter who sleeps on the 9th floor every day will let you try the russian cuisine she made in the middle of the night and ask you strangely why tomatoes are fried with eggs. You can ask her questions if you don't understand Russian. She will give up the Moscow comedy she is watching, put on reading glasses and take the question seriously, together with your trust and respect for her ... At this time, I look out the window at the beautiful Moscow city, at the dormitory building with red carpet, and at the kind old lady in front of me. On the eve of the start of school on September 3rd, when I stood in front of the dormitory window of the main building of Moda and looked at the beautiful night scene of Moscow again, I remembered the hard experiences of the two countries in less than a year, my parents and relatives who were nearly half a year old at home, and the tears that I had been holding back for a long time finally flowed out. Soon, however, the famous saying "Moscow doesn't believe in tears" made me stop crying. Although I stayed up all night, the next morning, I was the first to sit in the classroom of the journalism department of Moscow University. At this time, I know that a new test has begun. ...
Suggestions for domestic students
I have learned a lot from studying abroad in just two years, and the choice of two schools in two countries in one year has matured me a lot. Practice has made me realize that for most senior high school students in China, success through studying abroad is not omnipotent, but it is not impossible. The key depends on your choice, psychological quality and adaptability to the environment.
First of all, studying abroad should be "safety first, do what you can". Before going abroad, we must investigate the security of the country we are going to. Only when safety is guaranteed can parents and students feel at ease. In addition, you should be clear about your family's financial situation, and don't expect to work abroad to earn tuition. Foreign countries are not paradise, nor can they be completely intermediary propaganda and what most people think. No matter which country you go to, you must guarantee tuition and living expenses for at least two years. In this way, there will be no financial pressure and burden to study there. After the sophomore year, it is still feasible to subsidize tuition fees by individual work and practical learning theory after being familiar with the language and environment.
Secondly, before going abroad, you must have a certain understanding of your psychological quality, environment and language adaptability. There are great differences between Chinese and western educational methods. Teachers adopt completely open, flexible and heuristic education. In the preparatory stage, strengthening language can also vary from person to person and take care of individual students. After entering the university, few teachers will take special care of your study problems and emotions. As soon as every teacher enters the classroom, he can't wait to tell you everything he knows, just like an orator, but in an absolutely humorous and fascinating way. If you can't digest it, don't expect the teacher to tell you any more. I went to the library to find relevant information and shamelessly asked my classmates ... The exam came, and there was no such thing as drawing the key points, let alone delineating the scope of the exam. It depends on the usual accumulation. During the exam, you have a complete oral test, one-on-one. You have to answer everything the teacher asks, or you can take one from the teacher's notes to answer the above questions. Therefore, without sufficient language adaptability and strong psychological quality, it is difficult to adapt to such a seemingly relaxed learning environment that is full of pressure and competition.
Finally, and most importantly, if you encounter difficulties after going abroad, you must not shrink back, but be firm in your confidence to overcome them. "There is no limit to learning the sea, but it is difficult to make a boat." Since you have chosen to go abroad, you have proved your courage and strength, so have more confidence and efforts, and I believe you will succeed!
Since we have chosen a distant place, we only care about hardships. I give this famous saying of Wang Guozhen to many domestic students who are interested in studying abroad and friends who are studying in other countries. I hope you can be inspired by my experience and experience, choose a correct way to study abroad and walk out of your glory on this road!
