The Historical Evolution of Capital Library
The predecessor of Capital Library is Shi Jing Library Branch, Shi Jing Public Library and Central Park Reading Room, which were established in June 2003, June 2003, June 2003, June 2003, June 2003, June 2003, June 2003 and August 2007 respectively. These three libraries were founded under the care and guidance of Mr. Lu Xun. Mr. Lu Xun also personally attended the opening ceremony of Shi Jing Public Library, which was the first library for ordinary people in China after the Revolution of 1911. The purpose of the establishment of the three libraries is also to "arouse the national love for reading and revitalize social education through the deputy department." At that time, the library in the capital was called "paradise for lost scholars" by Mr. Cai Yuanpei. Cultural celebrities such as Lu Xun, Xia Cengyou, Liang Shuming and Shen Congwen frequented, and thousands of students taught themselves in the Capital Library, stepped into the society and became useful talents for national construction. It can be said that since its establishment, the Capital Library has established the direction of serving the general public.

19 13- 1926, the current situation is turbulent, the financial situation is unfavorable, the library is in a difficult situation, and the three libraries have no fixed addresses. During the period of 1924, the public library and the branch library of Shi Jing moved to the former lecture hall of the former Hanlin Academy in Xuannei Law, which was under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education of Beijing Municipal Government, co-located and managed library affairs respectively. 1925 the Ministry of education renamed the central park library as the third general library in Shi Jing, 1926 the Shi Jing branch library as the first general library in Shi Jing, and the public library as the second general library in Shi Jing. Its books are mainly popular books, especially the opera novels 1000 in the popular library, even surpassing the Shi Jing Library at that time. This is closely related to Mr. Lu Xun's original intention of running the museum. He said: "mass education focuses on enlightening ordinary people's knowledge, so the establishment of mass libraries is really crucial." Among the books collected, those that are necessary for the people and easy to learn are appropriate. " When he was writing a brief history of Chinese novels, he went to the library to consult novel materials many times. Lu Xun's thoughts laid the foundation for the later collection of various operas and novels in the Capital Library. After the Northern Expedition Revolution, the National Government changed the capital to Beiping Special City, and later changed it to Beiping City. The original three libraries have been renamed, relocated and merged several times, and changed to Beijing No.1 Library. From the first few staff members to dozens of people, the collection of books has grown from the first 2000 volumes to more than10,000 volumes, and the purpose of serving the people has always continued among generations of librarians. It is particularly worth mentioning that a special children's reading room was creatively set up at that time, equipped with children's rest and entertainment facilities, which was a pioneering work at that time. During the eight years of Japanese and Puppet occupation, the progressive books and periodicals in the library were burned and the business stopped. 1949 after the liberation of Beijing, the cause of library was reborn. 1953 was renamed Beijing Library and moved to No.35 Xihuamen Street. The building area has been expanded, and Xidan branch has been added in Hair Hutong. 1956 10 Under the care of Premier Zhou Enlai, the city library was moved to imperial academy, the highest institution of learning in Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, and was officially named Capital Library. Mr. Guo Moruo personally named the library, and the former Aiqiao Jiaoze in front of Biyong Hall in imperial academy became an extracurricular university hall for ordinary people. The Capital Library has developed rapidly. In just seven or eight years, it has 992,000 books, employees 122, and the construction area 10000 square meters, and has entered the ranks of large public libraries in China. The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture also allocated special funds to build some district-level branches and reading rooms, and the Capital Library provided unified professional guidance, which played a positive role in improving the cultural quality of citizens and enriching their spare time. After 1949, the Capital Library began a brand-new development period. Due to the collection of Tu Tu by the former Comte School and the French library, as well as the donation of rare books by some celebrities and scholars to Tu Tu, Tu Tu's collection of Chinese and foreign languages is greatly enriched, which is more distinctive on the basis of the original collection of operas and novels.
