Hanging the Red Lantern is adapted from the Shanghai Opera of the same name. The story took place in the period of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. Li Yuhe, a railway switchman in the occupied area, was born in 1986 in party member, China. His grandparents and grandchildren had different surnames, but were United in the "February 27th" strike movement 17 years ago. Li Yuhe was assigned by the Party organization to send a secret signal to the Baishan guerrillas, and was arrested because of the traitor's betrayal. Li Yuhe was brave, tenacious and unyielding at the enemy's banquet, in the prison cell and on the execution ground. Li Nainai told Tiemei the history of revolutionaries and encouraged her to stand the test and meet the struggle. The cruel enemy could do nothing, and finally killed Li Yu and Li Nainai. Tiemei inherited the legacy of her father and grandmother. With the help of the Party organization and the masses, she got rid of the enemy's pursuit tactfully and sent the secret code to Baishan, successfully completing the task assigned by the Party. The struggle of Li Yuhe's family for three generations fully embodies the revolutionary heroism and optimism of China's * * * producers who are desperate and advance wave after wave. This play is an excellent play of China Peking Opera Theatre. Since the 1960s, artists such as Li,,,,,, Sun Yue, Wang Jinghua, Du Fuzhen and Zhang Lan have all participated in performances.
