Historical Evolution of Peach Blossom Garden in Tianjin
Tianjin is a water city. Since the opening of the North-South Grand Canal, its position has become more and more important. In the Yuan Dynasty, the metropolis (Beijing) became the capital, and the canal was the main channel leading to the metropolis. Xigu and Gu Ting have become one of the grain transportation centers, and they are increasingly prosperous.

In this place, the natural landscape of peach blossom and willow green has gradually formed, from Xigu along the canal to Taohuakou, Taohuadu and Taohua Temple in the northwest, which is called "Liu Yang Peach Blossom 30 Miles". The earliest poem describing the Peach Blossom Dike is the poem "Supporting the Peach Blossom Mouth on the Boat" written by Yuan Dynasty poet Cheng: "Supporting Baisha Village, the boat is still in a coma. "Zhigu" in the poem is the name of Haihe River in Yuan Dynasty, and it was later used as the name of Tianjin. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there were more poems describing peach blossoms, such as Cha Changye's "Scene": "Who built a fishing platform outside the willow? "Seventy-two pieces of spring water live, and wild peaches bloom in the sound of chickens at noon." Xu Cui, a poet in the Qing Dynasty, described the beauty of the Peach Blossom Dike in "Hundred Odes on Golden Gate": "Several huts are different, saying that the peach blossoms are red on the shore. There is a bay of running water left, and peach blossoms are still smiling in the spring breeze. "

It can be seen that the Taohua Dike, which was called "Sanli" at that time, was centered on Taohuakou and Taohuadu. The reputation of Taohuadi was greatly enhanced. The "Taohuadi" was seen by Emperor Kangxi and presented with a poem. According to Tianjin County Records, in the forty-seventh year of Kangxi (1708), Emperor Kangxi made a southern tour of Jiangsu and Zhejiang, when peach blossom powder was green in the south. Unfortunately, the peach blossom died in an instant, and the emperor failed to appreciate it. Emperor Kangxi returned to Beijing along the canal and passed the Taohuadi area in Tianjin. He didn't want to see peach blossoms in full bloom again, and it was very emotional in spring. After the surprise, I wrote happily, leaving the word "Little Red Lip": "Goodbye Peach Blossom, Anh Hong of Guinness is still good. I didn't arrive until I returned to Lu 'an. I suspect it was reported in the spring. Gold rope fairy boat, starry night looking forward to Chen Chong. Love is ethereal, and it is not old when the sun is shining. "

Later, Emperor Qianlong learned that there was a peach blossom dam in Tianjin that had twice reported spring to his grandfather, which naturally made him yearn for it. "Continued Tianjin County Records" records: In the thirty-first year of Qianlong, Tianjin was flooded, and Emperor Qianlong ordered disaster relief. The following spring, he came to the North Canal to inspect the disaster situation, investigate the dikes and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Peach Blossom Dike. This year, Emperor Qianlong, who was nearly sixty years old, wrote two poems "abandoning the boat and riding into the city" by the Yun Bei River. Qianlong left many beautiful legends on the Taohua Dike, such as the existing "Dragon and Phoenix".

In the middle and late Qing Dynasty, the center of Taohuadi gradually shifted to Xigu area. Hua Dingyuan, a poet in the late Qing Dynasty, wrote the poem "Peach Blossom Temple": "The old tree still has three or two pearls, and the hills rise and fall to meet the weeds. Pedestrians want to know the depth of spring and not see peach blossoms? " The Peach Blossom Dike in Xigu area has also evolved from a natural landscape to a humanistic landscape with local characteristics.

1900 social unrest and the change of the Boxer Rebellion in the late Qing Dynasty. Cao Futian, the leader of the Boxer Rebellion, defeated the allied forces led by Seymour in Xigu, and the "armory" was bombed by the allied forces, which spread to Tamia Liu. 1902, the "Beiyang University Hall" was completed and moved to the former site of the "Arsenal". Beiyang teachers and students planted a large number of peach willows, making Taohuaba once again a scenic spot for viewing peach blossoms. "Tianjin Zhilue" records: "Tianjin Xigu Beiyang University's long embankment is full of peach blossoms. Whenever the sun is shining in spring and dawn, tourists will be flooded by the boulevard.
