Among them, machinery, mechanical industry, electrical technology, thermal engineering of power plant, metallurgy, metal technology, electronic materials and original devices, refrigeration and cryogenic engineering, physical electronics and optoelectronics, computer devices and equipment, industrial automation, pattern recognition and intelligent control, system engineering, communication and information system, environmental hygiene, basic medicine, pathology, internal medicine, epidemiology, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pharmacology. The collection of German medical literature and urban construction scientific literature is relatively complete, which is one of the collection characteristics.

Libraries have always attached great importance to the construction of literature resources. Through the collection and integrated utilization of electronic publications and online resources, the construction of characteristic databases and electronic resource navigation libraries, and the literature exchange with universities and publishing units at home and abroad, the construction of literature resources has developed rapidly and the level of literature guarantee has been continuously improved, which can meet the literature information needs of teachers and students in the whole school to the greatest extent. At present, the library has 547 Chinese and foreign language databases, 2,565,438+4,000 electronic books and 47,000 electronic periodicals. In addition, the library has built its own bibliographic database in Chinese and foreign languages, the joint catalogue database of western periodicals in Hubei universities, the master's and doctoral dissertations database of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and the database of machinery manufacturing and automation.

The library adopts the open-shelf lending service of books and periodicals, with more than 40 reading rooms and 6 104 reading seats. There are three electronic literature reading rooms and more than 300 computers.

The library is equipped with an advanced and perfect network system, which has initially completed the transformation from traditional service to modern service, basically realized the digitalization of resource storage, the capacity of disk array is 300TB, the service means are modernized, the information transmission is networked, and the whole library has achieved wireless network coverage, greatly improving the means and conditions for teachers and students to obtain information. The network system of the library can provide teachers and students with diversified high-quality information services including bibliographic inquiry, CD-ROM retrieval, full-text retrieval of electronic resources, online interlibrary loan and document delivery, and online information resource guidance for 365×24 hours a year.
