Notes on The Red Star Shines on China (1);
I. Introduction to the Works
The Red Star Shines on China is a beautifully written and informative reportage written by American journalists Edgar and Si Nuo based on what they saw and heard in the revolutionary base area in northwest China from June 6, 1938 to June 6, 1938. China and the Chinese Red Army of Workers and Peasants, as well as many Red Army leaders and generals, have truthfully reported to the whole world. Due to the actual situation in China at that time, this book was originally published as Red Star over China.
Second, the book mainly describes the characters and their extraordinary legendary lives.
Through on-the-spot interviews, Si Nuo described the extraordinary legendary life experiences of many Red Army leaders and generals, especially Mao Zedong, Zhu De and Peng.
Mao Zedong works thirteen or fourteen hours a day, but his body is very healthy and full of vitality. His body seems to be made of iron. All this is due to his farm work in the fields when he was a child. When he was studying in a normal school, he and his friends organized a club similar to Sparta. They often deliberately go hiking in the mountainous areas of South China, go swimming in cold weather, get wet with bare arms, and run Yuelu Mountain in stormy nights. It is said that these are all for exercise. Mao likes reading since he was a child. He is familiar with the Three Kingdoms, Water Margin, Journey to the West, and 18. When he was six months old, he dropped out of school, drew up a self-study plan for himself, and went to the Hunan Provincial Library to read books. And from beginning to end, he carried it out seriously. Every time he opens the door, he goes in and doesn't come out until the door is closed. During this period, he studied world geography and world history hard. Read a trip to Wan Li Road, thousands of books. During the summer vacation, my friend Xiao Zisheng and I walked around Dongting Lake for a week and traveled all over most parts of Hunan without any money. Walking on the ice in Beibu Gulf; Climb the wall of Xuzhou during the Three Kingdoms period; Bypass the famous Nanjing city wall at that time. Mao's personality is simple and pure, he has a good sense of humor, he likes to laugh, and he is a very interesting and complicated person. Nanjing offered a reward of 0.2 million/200 thousand for his head, but he often chatted with farmers in the street, with a guard at most.
Zhu De graduated from Wujiang Guild Hall in Yunnan, and was once an officer of the famous general Cai E. He gave up his wealth and resolutely devoted himself to the cause of * * *. During the Long March, especially when Zhang decided to go south, he led the fourth army to carry out arduous struggles in northwest Sichuan, and finally led his troops to northern Shaanxi, making indelible contributions. After an argument with the teacher in elementary school, Peng picked up the bench and beat the teacher. He left home at the age of 9, 17 led the hungry to attack the granary. He is the commander of the third army of the first army. He treats soldiers like brothers, and his horse often gives way to his subordinates during the Long March. After defeating the cavalry of the general vest of the Hui people in northern Shaanxi, Mao Zedong wrote the poem that the mountain is high, the road is far and the pit is deep, and the army is galloping. Who dares to cross the knife at once, except me, General Peng.
He Long, who started his career with two kitchen knives, has a father who is one of the leaders of the Hunan Gerontology Society. When I was young, he longhui
