Anyone interested in literature knows that Fadev's masterpiece Destruction has two earliest Chinese versions. One was published by Shanghai Dajiang Bookstore in September, 193 1, translated by Sui. The other book was published by Shanghai Sanxian Bookstore 193 10 and translated by Lu Xun. In fact, both versions were written by Lu Xun, and "nian" is just a pseudonym used by Lu Xun. Dajiang Bookstore only printed one edition, and Sanshou Bookstore later reprinted it. Therefore, DJI Book Shop Edition is even more precious.
People can't help asking, why did Lu Xun publish the same book in different publishers under different names in such a short time? /kloc-at the beginning of 0/930, Lu Xun began to translate the novel "Destruction" by the Soviet writer fadeev according to the Japanese version (the Japanese version is called "Nineteen Men"), and serialized it in the newly established progressive publication "Germination" with the translated name "Collapse". This novel was written and published by Fadev on 1927. This paper tells the story of a guerrilla group composed of workers, peasants and revolutionary intellectuals in the far eastern coastal areas of the Soviet Union during the civil war against the domestic counter-revolutionary White Guards and Japanese armed intervention forces. Soon, "Germination" was seized by the Kuomintang authorities, and the serialization was interrupted.
At the end of 1930, Lu Xun translated the complete book, and he handed the manuscript to Shanghai Shenzhou Guoguang Society, which was listed as one of the modern literature and art series and was ready to be published. However, at that time, because the Kuomintang Zhejiang Party Department petitioned the Kuomintang Central Committee for the wanted "fallen literati" Lu Xun, the wind was very tight and Lu Xun avoided it everywhere, so Shenzhou Guoguang Society did not dare to print this book. Later, Lu Xun found Dajiang Bookstore and agreed to delete the preface and postscript. The title of the book was changed to Destruction, and the name of the translator was changed to Sui. This name is based on the "degenerate literati" and contains the greatest ridicule of the Kuomintang authorities.
Lu Xun has been outraged by the white terror of the Kuomintang authorities since he handed the book to Dajiang Bookstore. He really didn't want to publish "Destruction" incompletely, so he decided to set up Sanxian Bookstore and print books at his own expense in this name. He spent 1000 yuan on printing progressive literature at his own expense. From editing, translation, proofreading, binding, design, to contacting the printing factory, bookstore for printing and consignment, Lu Xun and his wife Xu Guangping are all hands-on. Lu Xun also personally wrote an advertisement for Sanxian Bookstore: "Our bookstore is not satisfied with the depravity and flashiness of the publishing industry now, so it has spent a thousand dollars to seriously introduce honest translations, and interested buyers have taken out money to get books. There were no unexpected prizes and no special flowers, but it didn't fall for it after all. The editor is anonymous, but the proofreading is done by an old hand. Because our bookstore is honest and doesn't play tricks. "
The first book published by Sanxian Bookstore was Destruction, with a preface and postscript, which restored the name of the translator "Lu Xun" and stamped the words "proofreading by Sanxian Bookstore". Lu Xun wrote an advertisement for Destruction: "fadeev, the author of Destruction, is a novel writer with a long history of criticism. This book was translated from Japanese by Mr. Lu Xun and published in a monthly magazine, which was praised as a masterpiece by readers. Unfortunately, the monthly magazine stopped publishing and the book was not finished. Now, referring to the German and English versions, I translated it into the whole book, corrected the first half, added the preface of KuraharaKorehito, attached six illustrations of the original book, and a portrait of the author printed by block printing, which can also give us a glimpse of new art, not only farmers, miners and intellectuals are vivid, but also many proverbs are inexhaustible. It is really a big torch in new literature. This book has more than 3 10 pages, and the actual price is one yuan and twenty cents. "
After the publication of Destruction, Qu Qiubai wrote to Lu Xun and spoke highly of the book. He said, "I am very excited to read this book" Destruction ". I love it as much as I love my children. " Lu Xun also said in his reply to Qu Qiubai that he loved destruction, "just like loving his own son."
