The Historical Evolution of Yancheng Library
Yancheng Library is a national first-class library, a provincial civilized library and a provincial social science popularization demonstration base. In 2009, it was jointly commended by Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Ministry of Culture as an "advanced unit of national cultural system", and was successively commended as an "excellent organization award for national reading" and "advanced unit for national reading" by library society of china. Its predecessor can be traced back to the "Li Shuo Tao Ku in Yancheng County" in the seventeenth year of the Republic of China (AD 1928). 1983 was upgraded to Yancheng Library due to the withdrawal of county and the establishment of city. The first phase project 1987 No.26 Yulong East Road, 1990 was completed and opened for business; In 2002, the second phase of the project was expanded in situ and opened to the outside world after the overall transformation in 2006.
