As a national library, the National Library comprehensively collects Chinese and foreign books, periodicals, newspapers, audio-visual materials, electronic publications and other documents. In the century-old history of our library, donations from all walks of life are an important way for our library to obtain literature materials. Our library has always encouraged all sectors of society to donate literature and materials generously to the library. In order to continue to do a good job in literature donation, the following methods of literature donation in our library are hereby announced for your reference:

I. Scope of solicitation:

Precious Chinese and foreign ancient books, maps, epigraphy rubbings, famous manuscripts, revolutionary historical documents, etc. , with high preservation and research value, all donated by the library; Our library will give priority to the collection of other documents and materials that are not collected by our library or documents and materials with fewer copies.

Second, the donation collection method:

1. The donated documents that meet the admission criteria of our library and are not collected by our library will be added to the official collection and kept permanently.

2. Although the donated documents meet the requirements of library admission standards, the library has collected them, but the number of copies in Tibet is insufficient, and they will be supplemented as official collections or temporary collections according to the requirements of the number of copies in Tibet and the service life of the documents. Temporary collections are available for short-term borrowing by readers. After reaching the specified number of years, it will be removed from the shelf or transferred to other document users.

3. If the library has collected enough copies or donated documents that are not in the collection scope of the library, the library will return them to the donor or transfer them to other document users with the consent or deemed consent of the donor.

4. Books with doubtful publishing information (books with CIP numbers inconsistent with those published by China Map Library of General Administration of Press and Publication, books with ISBN numbers of other books, books published and printed in mainland China with ISBN numbers of Taiwan Province and Hongkong, etc.). ) in principle, it is rejected.

Three. Related rights and interests:

Once the donated documents are accepted and the relevant procedures are completed, all relevant rights and interests, such as ownership and disposal rights, will belong to the National Library.

Four. Certificates and thank-you letters:

1. The library will issue a "donation certificate" or a "thank-you letter" (used to accept donations from unofficial publications) to donors, regardless of permanent preservation or temporary borrowing.

2. The library will send a "thank-you letter" (used to refuse to accept formal and informal publications donations) to donors who are not collected by the library after selection and are allowed by the National Library to transfer donated documents from other literature users.

3. If the donated documents have not been collected and the donor is unwilling to handle them by himself, please ask the donor to collect the gifts by himself or by entrusting others within 60 days after receiving the "thank-you letter" (please return the "thank-you letter" when collecting it). Failing to collect or reply within the time limit shall be deemed as allowing the National Library to allocate other literature users.
