How to classify books in China in Ming and Qing Dynasties?
Since the Wei and Jin Dynasties, Chinese ancient books have generally adopted the "four-part classification" (four parts are classics, history, zi and Ji). If large-scale books (such as Yongle Dadian and Sikuquanshu) are compiled, there must be corresponding catalogue books. For example, the Catalogue Summary of Sikuquanshu and the Concise Catalogue of Sikuquanshu. When looking up a book, first look up the catalog book, and then find the corresponding book according to the catalog book. After the end of the Qing Dynasty, China people began to learn the knowledge of bibliography from foreign countries, so the four-part classification is basically not used in new books.
