GuangzhouSportUniversity, founded in July 1956, is the only undergraduate sports institution in South China, and one of the earliest professional sports institutions in China since the founding of the People's Republic of China, under the Guangdong Provincial People's Government. It is a university that has the right to award master's degrees in the first-class discipline of physical education (including all master's degrees in two disciplines) and the right to award master's degrees in sports medicine. It is an on-the-job training unit for senior, middle and junior coaches in several sports events of the State Sports General Administration, and has the right to approve first-class referees and first-class athletes.

By the end of 65438+February 2020, the school covers an area of 432 mu, with 12 secondary colleges, 18 undergraduate majors, 8 master's degrees authorized to two disciplines and 2 master's degree authorized points. At present, there are about 8,000 full-time students and 550 faculty members. The school library covers an area of 20,600 square meters and has more than 525,000 books.
