Three universities in the United States have announced that they will formally integrate their student ID cards with Apple's card sensing function, allowing students to store their student ID cards in the iPhone and directly sense mobile devices entering the campus.
After Apple iPhone can be used as a credit card for inductive consumption, the new iOS 12 system brings a new application for NFC induction: student ID card inductive identification.
The above three universities mainly include Duke University, University of Alabama and University of Oklahoma, and their student ID identification systems have been integrated into the Apple Wallet application of iPhone and Apple Watch.
Apple wallet is like a virtual wallet on a mobile phone. In the past, the new student ID function not only allowed users to join a credit card and use Apple Pay to induce payment, but also allowed students to use the virtual student ID in their mobile phones to enter campus facilities such as dormitories, libraries and gymnasiums through NFC, eliminating the process of carrying student ID cards and taking out cards to swipe their cards.
When the student ID card is used in the Apple wallet, users can also choose the shortcut mode, so that they do not need to authenticate by touch ID or Face ID, but only need to use the mobile phone for induction. If it is Apple Pay's credit card consumption, you still need identity authentication to make consumption.
This new virtual student ID function was released by Apple together with the new system iOS 12 at this year's WWDC Developers Conference. Any iPhone user can use it provided that their school system and Apple system are integrated with each other.
In addition to the above three schools, Johns Hopkins University, Santa Clara University and Temple University in the United States will also launch this Apple Wallet student ID function before the end of the year.
I believe that in the near future, the student ID card system of domestic universities can also be integrated into the mobile phone system and enjoy the convenience brought by technology.
