Xiangtan University Library started construction on 1974, broke ground on 1978, and was completed on198/kloc-0, with an area of 6,563 square meters. The expansion project of the new museum started on August 28th, 1998, and it was opened and put into use in 2000. The new library is connected with the old library. The main building of the new building has seven floors, with a building area of15000m2. Together with the old library, the total area of the library is 2 1663 square meters. In front of the building is a huge colorful fountain with sloping lawns on both sides. Against the backdrop of green lawns and colorful fountains, the whole building shines brightly and becomes a new landscape of Xiangtan University.
