Capital Gymnasium was started in June 1966, and1October 1968 was officially put into use. Covering an area of more than 30,000 square meters, Capital Gymnasium is one of the important sports and cultural venues in Beijing. After the completion of the Capital Gymnasium, many international competitions and large-scale activities were held. The first large-scale comprehensive sports competition was the Asian Games of 1990.

Brief introduction of capital stadium

The Capital Gymnasium is adjacent to Beijing Zoo in the east and Zizhuyuan Park and the National Library of China in the west. Surrounded by green trees, the space is vast and the environment is beautiful. It is the largest, most functional and most widely used gym in Beijing.

Since its establishment 38 years ago, the Capital Gymnasium has undertaken many international and domestic sports competitions and trainings, as well as large-scale cultural performances. In order to meet the needs of volleyball competition and training in 2008 Olympic Games, a large-scale renovation project was carried out in the Capital Gymnasium.

After the renovation of the Capital Gymnasium, the construction area increased to about 54,600 square meters, meeting the functional requirements of the International Olympic Committee and international individual sports organizations.
