1, Shen Chengzhou
In the fourth issue of Music Newsletter (1980), an article "From" Do-Re-Mi "-A Brief Introduction to American Musicals" was published, which was the first time that China formally proposed the name "Musical". The writer of this article is Mr. Shen Chengzhou, a torchbearer in China's music industry.
Shen Chengzhou, 65438-0979, worked in Wuhan Song and Dance Theatre and went to American musicals at his own expense. During his one-year stay in the United States, Shen Chengzhou watched 28 musicals. In the library, I borrowed vinyl records of 66 musicals to listen to, and all of them were transcribed into tapes. He also learned two music books with the help of his sister. And since May 1980, we have published articles in China to evaluate western musicals, which is also what we mentioned above. This article is the first time that a musical has appeared in a domestic publication, and the word "musical" has appeared in public view for the first time.
2. Wang Luoyong
1985 Wang Luoyong graduated from Shanghai Theatre Academy with a bachelor's degree in literature. His excellent performance made him stay and teach. At an art festival, Wang Luoyong met an American delegation and learned that a play can often be performed for 78 or even 30 years in the United States, which made him yearn for the Broadway stage.
After a series of rebuffs, Wang Luoyong finally went to the drama performance department of Boston University. 1989 in may, Wang Luoyong graduated from Boston university theater school with a master's degree in literature and art, and then Wang Luoyong taught acting at the university of Wisconsin for six years.
