The construction of literature resources is the foundation of all the work of the library. For this reason, since the combination of the school and the library, around the discipline construction and specialty construction of the school, the library has made great efforts to provide a strong literature resource guarantee for the school's teaching, scientific research and personnel training, and has always adhered to the principle of "combining key disciplines with general disciplines, combining professional literature with popular science literature, and combining paper literature with electronic literature" and strived to realize a scientific collection system. At present, it has basically formed a relatively perfect collection system featuring petroleum science and technology, waterlogging and wetland agriculture, and Jingchu culture research. The combination of science and engineering and the infiltration of arts and sciences cover economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management and other disciplines. There are 2.98 million copies of all kinds of paper documents, 0/5,000 kinds of electronic books/kloc-0, and more than 3 100 kinds of Chinese and foreign newspapers and periodicals that have been ordered for a long time.

The library's disk array capacity is 12T, and 43 Chinese and foreign databases have been purchased from 18 suppliers. There are mainly CNKI digital library, VIP Chinese periodical full-text database, superstar e-book, Apabi e-book, NPC copy newspaper database, China standard full-text database, China Economic Information Network, online academic lecture hall, online college English examination and learning system, SPE CD-ROM full-text database, Net Library foreign e-book database, Springer foreign electronic periodical database, EBSCO foreign electronic periodical database, UMI foreign culture master's thesis full-text database, and Wanfang Company's original foreign periodical delivery system. This library is also one of the C-level member libraries of CALIS (National University Document Guarantee System), and has been identified as the first-level station of CNKI Knowledge Network Service Center. It can be said that a collection system with rich resources, outstanding characteristics, strong guarantee and the embryonic form of digital library has been formed.

In recent years, with the help of CALIS, the library began to build the characteristic database of Yangtze University Library. According to the discipline layout and comprehensive strength of the school, the key collections of the library are Continental Petroleum Exploration and Development, Chu Culture Research and Wetland Agricultural Science, and six databases including Continental Petroleum Exploration and Development Database and Chu Culture Characteristic Database have been organized and implemented. After more than two years' efforts, the basic framework of characteristic libraries has been initially established, with income data exceeding 13. 10000, and services have been provided to school readers.
