Taiyuan University of Technology, located in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, is a provincial application-oriented undergraduate school focusing on engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, art and teaching, with multidisciplinary support and coordinated development.
The school, formerly known as North China Fifth Industrial School, was founded in 1954. It is a national key middle school established to meet the needs of national defense construction during China's first five-year plan period. 1988 was upgraded to a junior college, and 1999 began to recruit undergraduates. In March 2007, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was set up as a full-time general undergraduate school and renamed as "Taiyuan University of Technology".
As of June 20 14, the school covers an area of 378,667 square meters with a total construction area of 350,000 square meters. The total value of fixed assets is 869 million yuan, including the total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is 230 million yuan.
