In 2005, the International Olympic Committee decided at the Singapore Plenary Session that there would be only 26 sports in the 20 12 London Olympic Games, and no more than 28 sports in each Olympic Games in the future. This sends a signal that the "expansionism" of the modern Olympic movement, which has lasted for decades, has ended. In 2007, the International Olympic Committee passed another reform resolution: from 2020, the Olympic Games will determine 25 core events, and then these 25 major events will be fixed at each Olympic Games, and up to 3 temporary events can be added.
Summer Olympic Games events: track and field, basketball, football, wrestling, judo, weightlifting, shooting, archery, fencing, rowing, equestrian, boxing, handball, tennis, baseball, softball, taekwondo, badminton, kayaking, table tennis hockey, cycling, sailing, gymnastics, volleyball, swimming, triathlon, modern pentathlon and women's boxing.
