Today, I practice reading the picture book Guli and Gula, which has been translated into eight languages. It is one of Japan's most famous classic picture books overseas and is deeply loved by children all over the world. This book was selected into Selected Japanese Picture Books 100 compiled by Japan Children's Writers Association, the "Basic Book" selected by Japan National School Library Agreement, and the "500 Children's Picture Books" compiled by Japan Children's Picture Book Research Department.
This book tells the story of voles Guli and Gula who found an oversized egg, then overcame many difficulties to eat it, and finally made the egg into a cake and shared it with friends in the forest. This book is very imaginative and childlike. In the book, Guli and Gula came up with many ways to move cooking tools, drag and walk, and then make cakes together. Finally, when they saw the small animals around them, they generously took out the cake and shared it with everyone. Finally, they made the used egg shell into a stroller, which was unexpected, creative and fascinating.
Guli and Gula is a picture book with a deep insight into children's nature, which is particularly kind and happy to read. The story is based on the children's favorite "cook well and eat delicious food". "Eating delicious food" can satisfy their appetite, while "cooking well" is a kind of The Imitation Game. The role change of family style always makes children enjoy it.
Guli and Gula are kind and lovely. They overcame difficulties together. With delicious food to share with friends, the lively and cheerful scenes in the forest fascinate countless young readers, and subtly let children know a lot, such as cooperation, sharing and labor ... This picture book is not small, including narrative, dialogue, ballads and other forms, which is very suitable for children aged three or four: I like talking to myself and singing nursery rhymes of all sizes.
In my practice of reading to my brother, I sang and read the first part of a ballad:
? "Our name is Koori? Gula
What do you love most in this world?
Make good food and eat delicious food.
Ancient Rygula, ancient Rygula "
Soon, my brother sang with me, and the happy reading began!
Seeing the big egg part, my brother began to make various gestures. This egg is as big as a lamp, as big as an air conditioner, as big as my grandparents and as big as our home. Haha, the exaggerated and lovely appearance makes people laugh.
While watching How to Get Eggs Back, the heuristic question made my brother guess again, and by the way, I learned about the composition of eggs. Guli and Gula went home to get something. They and their younger brother found that they counted what they had taken.
Then there is the intensive reading of making cakes, which explains the materials and technology of making cakes in detail.
While waiting for the cake, I took my brother to find animals with smells. This search process is my brother's favorite link, just as interesting as our visual discovery. There are more and more small animals on the next page, and we are still looking for them. By the way, explain "cheapskate".
After that, I ate the cake happily and let my brother understand the concepts of sharing and cooperation.
Let my brother guess what eggs can do, which is another discussion. Finally, we agreed to make cakes with my mother on weekends and sing the songs in the picture book according to the process in the picture book, which will be a happy food trip.
There is no didactic language like "Good things to share together" in the book, only a simple sentence like "Guli and Gula are not cheapskates, and invite you to eat cake later", and then "everyone is extremely happy". The happiness brought by this sharing allows children to read and feel, eat and play together. This kind of sharing does not need to be deliberate, and children will spontaneously understand that there is no need to share.
