Yangtze University is not a 2 1 1 institution, but a kind of university. The school was selected as the national "Basic Capacity Building Project of Universities in the Midwest" and the "First-class University in China" in Hubei Province. It is also a university jointly established by Hubei Provincial People's Government, China Petroleum and Natural Gas Group Co., Ltd., China Petrochemical Group Co., Ltd. and China Offshore Oil Group Co., Ltd., Hubei Provincial People's Government, People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
