The legend of Yu chiseling Longmen was first seen in Mozi's All-Love. Longmen is the narrowest part of Shaanxi-Shaanxi Grand Canyon, and the Yellow River roared down from Hukou. On the steep cliff, two big red characters are engraved impressively: Longmen. This mountain in Hejin, to the east of the canyon, is also called Longmen Mountain. There is a beautiful legend of "Peach Blossoms Leaping into Longmen in March".
Li Daoyuan's Notes on Water Classics in the Northern Wei Dynasty recorded: "The Longmen was carved by Yu, 80 steps wide, and there are still traces among the rocks." Legend has it that Dayu dug it when he was controlling water. Later generations called it Yumen because they missed Dayu's achievements in water control, and later passed it on to later generations. Yumen is called Yumenkou because it is an ancient ferry and a transportation hub in Qin Jin Province.
When the Yellow River flows through Yumenkou, it is confined between mountains and canyons. The closer to Longmen, the wider the riverbed. The roaring Yellow River, subject to the canyon, became furious, suddenly broke out, rampaged and thunderous, but was squeezed into the riverbed by the calm mountain canyon. Near the end of the canyon, at the dragon gate, a sharp turn and wild waves suddenly hit the cliff, roared and roared, flying out of layers of volley snow waves, forced to turn around, hit the boulder on the other side, roared and rushed to piles of snow waves, and roared into the sky. The muddy Yellow River, however, hit the wall and retreated, and immediately encountered a huge reef standing on the riverbed, and roared again. The river went straight into the sky, and after a loud noise, it fell trembling from the sky and fell to the bottom, which was considered as jumping out of the Longmen.
1 1 BC, Emperor Han Chengdi once visited Longmen and lamented the sinister here. In 396 AD, Yao Xing captured Hedong in the late Qin Dynasty, and Gong Liu, the satrap of Hedong in the west, guarded the Yellow River, making it impossible for Yao Xing to cross the river. Later, Yao Xing will lead Jiang Xue into Longmen and Puban, and finally force Gong Liu to surrender. Justin, Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty, passed by Longmen in 479 AD and sent people to worship Dayu, where he built Longmen Town. In 6 15, when Li Yuan was appointed as the envoy of Hedong in Sui Dynasty, he broke the fifth section and the second section in Longmen. Two years later, Li Yuan rose from Taiyuan to resist Sui, conquered Jiangxian and came to Longmen. His counselor Ren (Wang Xiang) suggested crossing the Yellow River from Liangshan, south of Longmen. Tang gaozu listened to Wang Xiang's words, and after crossing the river, he pointed to Hancheng, Shaanxi. In 6 19 AD, Liu Wuzhou approached Jiangzhou and captured Longmen. Li Shimin was ordered to crusade against Liu Wuzhou and cross the Yellow River through Longmen, where he annihilated Liu Wuzhou's army.
The three waves of Longmen, a thousand-year wonder of the Yellow River, have aroused the poetic sentiment of many literati in ancient and modern times.

Originally located in the southeast corner of Pingyuan County. It was built in 1573 (the first year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty) and was demolished during the Cultural Revolution. Up to now, only the stone tablet engraved with the word "Longmen" on the lintel of the cave (a provincial-level protected cultural relic) is left in Pingyuan County Library.
