Northwest university of politics and law has a history of 70 years, glorious revolutionary tradition and rich cultural heritage.
The school's predecessor was 1937, the Northern Shaanxi Public School founded by the Central Committee in the revolutionary holy land of Yan 'an. As the first cadre college founded by our party, Northern Shaanxi Public College has trained a large number of outstanding anti-Japanese cadres and intellectual youth for the liberation of the Chinese nation. The first principal was Cheng, an educator and writer.
194 1 year, Northern Shaanxi Public College merged with China Women's University and Mao Zedong Youth Cadre School to form Yan 'an University, and continued to train revolutionary cadres and young intellectuals for War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. Yan 'an University is the first comprehensive university founded by our party. Educator Wu was appointed as the first president of Yan 'an University.
1949 Yan' an university moved to Xi' an and changed its name to Northwest People's Revolutionary University. The main task is to train all kinds of cadres needed for the construction of new China, especially the northwest. Ma, chairman of Shaanxi provincial government, is also the principal.
1953 Northwest Bureau decided to reorganize Northwest People's Revolutionary University into Northwest University of Political Science and Law, and at the end of the following year, it was reorganized into Northwest Branch of Central College of Political Science and Law. Its main task is to train political and legal cadres and ethnic minority cadres in public security organs, procuratorates and legal departments for the northwest region and surrounding provinces. Bai Qingjiang and Liu Ruo were the principals of the school.
1958 In September, the Law Department of Northwest University was placed under the Northwest Branch of the Central Cadre School of Political Science and Law, and Xi 'an College of Political Science and Law was established, becoming the first higher political science and law school in Northwest China. Since then, the history of general higher education has begun, with Liu Ruo as president and party secretary. 1963, the school was named northwest university of politics and law, jointly managed by the Ministry of Education and the Supreme People's Court, with the Supreme People's Court as the main school, becoming one of the four universities of political science and law in China.
During the Cultural Revolution, schools were forced to close.
The school resumed classes on 1978 and resumed enrollment on 1979, and the Supreme People's Court was responsible for it. Wang Yun, awarded the first-class Gold Star Medal by the Ministry of Justice, served as Party Secretary and Dean of the College. After 1980, the school was placed under the responsibility of the Ministry of Justice. In 2000, the state implemented the reform of the management system of colleges and universities, and the schools were changed into colleges and universities funded by the central and local governments and headed by Shaanxi Province. In June 2006, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed northwest university of politics and law, which opened a new chapter in the development of the school.
For a long time, especially in the last two decades, northwest university of politics and law has taken serving the local economic and social development and the construction of democracy and legal system as its own responsibility, taking teaching as the center, comprehensively deepening various reforms, and its school undertakings have achieved leap-forward development.
Schools strengthen the construction of school conditions, optimize the allocation of teaching resources, and create good conditions for teachers and students to work, study and live. At present, two campuses, Chang 'an and Yanta, have been built, covering an area of 1.347 mu, with a total area of 21.6000 square meters of teaching administration building and a total area of1.4800 square meters of student dormitory. There are 0/6 teaching and research laboratories, 65,438 voice laboratories, 65,438 multimedia classrooms and 2/0/46 teaching computers. The total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment reaches 50,977,800 yuan. Yanta and Chang 'an Campus each have 1 library, with a collection of 1.67 million volumes, more than 2,300 Chinese and foreign periodicals, and more than 20 advanced online academic resources at home and abroad. The computer network has realized the gigabit optical fiber interconnection between the two campuses, and built a virtual campus network integrating teaching, scientific research and management. Next to the Wild Goose Pagoda and at the foot of Zhong Nanshan Mountain, the modern garden-style campus has become an ideal home for young students from all over the country to learn and become talents.
