East China University of Political Science and Law, located in Shanghai, is the first batch of institutions of higher learning of political science and law established in New China. It is an institution of higher learning jointly established by the central and local governments and a high-level local university in Shanghai. It was selected into the Judicial Research Base of the Supreme People's Court Free Trade Zone, a national university with typical graduate employment experience, the first batch of "Excellent Legal Talents Education and Training Plan" of the Ministry of Education, and an excellent journalism and communication talents education and training base. It is one of the seven universities in China that won the "Excellent Scholarship of China Government".

As of March 20021year, the school has two campuses, Changning and Songjiang, covering an area of more than 750,000 square meters.
