The former site of Xishiku Church is located at the entrance of Silkworm Pond by Zhongnanhai Lake, diagonally opposite to the Old Beijing Library. Officially opened on 1703. It has long been the cathedral of the Catholic diocese of Beijing and the largest and oldest church in Beijing at present. 1984, Xishiku Church was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit in Beijing. In June 2006, it was listed as the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

In ancient times, Xiku Church was called Beitang, which was built in the early Qing Dynasty. It is called the Church of the Savior. 1887, demolition due to expansion of Zhongnanhai. Later, the Qing government allocated 452,000 taels of silver to build the Xiku in Xi 'anmen. 1900 It was raised during the renovation.

The first floor became the solemn and beautiful North Hall we see today. The North Hall is a typical Gothic building. It was first built by the French missionary Jesus at the entrance of the silkworm pond in An 'anmen, Xi 'an in 1693, and was completed in 1703. After the death of Kangxi, Yongzheng issued a ban on religion. Until the Daoguang period, Beitang was abandoned, and 1872 was confiscated and demolished by the Qing government. 1860, British and French troops invaded Beijing, and the Qing government returned the land of Beitang to the church. 1866 was completed. 1885, Cixi expanded the West Garden, 1887 moved the North Temple to its present site, and 1900 was completed. From 65438 to 0985, the state allocated funds for reconstruction and resumed normal religious activities.

Its four tall minarets, three pointed arches and the circular rose window in the center of the main span create a dignified and beautiful facade, which is more and more white and straight surrounded by pines, cypresses and cypresses. The lobby is cross-shaped, with a building area of about 2,200 square meters and a floor height of 16.5 meters. The spire of the bell tower is about 3 1 m high. There is China Pavilion around the front hall and yellow glazed tiles at the four corners. There is a stone tablet inscribed by Gan Long in the pavilion. The ingenious combination of West No.1 Middle School, one high and one short is amazing. The statues of saints on both sides of the main entrance are unique among churches in Beijing.

The golden vault supported by 300 giant columns and 80 stained glass windows in the hall always reminds people of Notre Dame de Paris. The overall architectural style is a combination of Chinese and western. 1985 renovation of the North Temple, reconstruction of the altar of the Lord Jesus in front of the lobby, the altar of the Virgin Mary on the east and west sides and the altar of Father Yue Se. The opening ceremony was held on February 24th. 1985. Shigu Church has become the most beautiful church in Beijing.
