Jiaxing Library was founded in 1904 (30th year of Guangxu) and is one of the earliest public libraries in China. 1904, Jin Hetao of Jiaxing donated money to establish "Jiajun Library" on the basis of sorting out the records of ancient books left by the original Jiaxing Magistrate's Records of Jiaxing. Taking Xiushui Middle School as the library site, Shen Yayan, the prime minister of the school, is also the librarian of the main library, and Tan Xinjia is hired to compile the collection bibliography.
