Address: North of West Chang 'an Avenue, west of Civil Aviation Building and east of Xidan Square in Beijing.
Bus route: Xidan subway station north exit/entrance. 1, 4, 10, 22, 37, 47, 52, 102, 105, 109, 626, 726, 728, 802.
Comment: This is the largest bookstore I have ever seen in China. Because I live nearby, this is also the bookstore I visit the most. It has four floors. I can take you directly to any book, or I know if there is such a book. However, this is a bookstore whose size is inversely proportional to its taste. At best, it can only be called a shopping mall selling books, which has the characteristics of all Xinhua bookstores in China. I have been to Shenzhen Book City, which is called the "cultural park" and "cultural landscape" of Shenzhen people, and its taste and scale are far less than that of Beijing Book Building. I think its taste is not as good as that of the Dangdang Bookstore with a business area of more than 30 square meters near my residence at that time. If you want to find some books that you want to read repeatedly, you'd better not come here. In addition, the bookstore has a unique scenery: whenever the final exam of the university approaches, the bookshelves of liberal arts majors are crowded with our favorite children, and many girls (maybe boys don't have the patience) are concentrating on copying books. Cramming is the most time-saving and money-saving way.
2. Wangfujing Bookstore
Address: the northernmost block facing the street in Oriental Square, Wangfujing Street, Beijing.
Bus route: the northeast exit of Wangfujing subway station, 1, 4, 10, 20, 37, 52, 103, 104, 120, 420, 728, 8000.
Comment: This should be the second largest bookstore in Beijing, with four floors, but it is much smaller than Beijing Book Building. It also belongs to Xinhua Bookstore, but it has all the shortcomings of Beijing Book Building. Its advantages are hard to find, and its popularity depends on Wangfujing Street.
3. Beijing Sanlian Taofen Book Center
Address: East Street, Beijing Art Museum. On the east side of China Art Museum, the intersection of Wangfujing Street and Dongsi West Street faces north.
Bus routes: 10 1, 103, 104, 108, 109, 1/kloc-0. Taxi Terminal: Sanlian Bookstore, East Street, Art Museum.
Comments: Listen to the name and you should feel its taste. Located on the first floor and the first floor of the building of Life Reading Xinzhi Sanlian Bookstore (Publishing House). The biggest advantage is that the reading atmosphere is particularly good and there is soft music, so the steps from the first floor to the basement are always crowded with "readers" who only read books but don't buy them. According to my numerous observations, this "unique scenery" is a bit embarrassing, because almost all they see are fashion pictorial and novels. Personally, I feel that the taste of this bookstore comes almost entirely from the books published by Sanlian Bookstore. In addition to the books published by Sanlian Bookstore, the truly academic books are incomplete, but they are slightly biased towards modern literature (of course, bookstores should follow the market), but the monographs on China history are also worth reading. Generally speaking, it is really a good bookstore worth visiting. If you are a friend who loves reading, it is a great pity to come to Beijing without Sanlian. As I said, there are always more people studying here than buying books.
4. Fengru Pine Tree Shop
Address: Haidian South Road, Zhongguancun, Beijing. The south gate of Peking University faces east, and the gate of the West Building of Peking University Resources enters the basement.
Bus lines: No.47, No.302, No.308, No.332, No.355, No.717, No.718, No.726, No.737, No.740, No.808, No.826, No.840 and No.4.
Comments: This bookstore enjoys a good reputation in other places. First, it is close to Peking University. Second, it was founded by a teacher from Peking University, and it is more famous for its academic nature. The size of this store is not very large, but most of the books are about history, philosophy, politics, law, and some literature, as well as specialized bookshelves for Sanlian and business. There are few customers and the environment is very quiet, so in a corner of the bookstore, a small area has been specially opened, and several sets of tables and chairs have been set up, where readers can sit and read freely with books. This is the biggest feature that distinguishes our store from other stores, which makes people feel a strong human touch. It should be noted that this bookstore is hard to find. If we don't focus on the words "Peking University Resources West Building", it will be easy to ignore. There is a small sign "Wind in Pine Bookstore" in the gate. When you walk in, turn over the relatively inconspicuous stairs (because you pass the elevator first) and go down, you will see several vigorous characters "Wind in Pine".
5. Guo Linfeng bookstore
Address: Floor 1, Haohai Building, Haidian Book City, Zhongguancun, Beijing. South of Haidian Bridge in North Fourth Ring Road.
Bus routes: 14, 47, 737, 740, 808, 840 ... get off at Haidian Station and take a taxi to Haidian Book City, Haidian Town.
Comments: This bookstore may be located in a remote place, which many friends didn't notice, and its scale and taste are even worse than that of Feng Songsong. There are many academic books that can't be found in Sanlian and Feng Songsong, and shops are ready to offer discounts at any time. Because there are many people coming to Haidian Bookstore, there are many customers in this bookstore, but in all fairness, this bookstore is the only one worth visiting in Haidian Bookstore. There are more students here, because Haidian Bookstore is similar to the wholesale market of books and periodicals. On the one hand, books are cheap, and on the other hand, there are many books in specialties (especially science). There is a small coffee teahouse in the deepest part of Guolinfeng Bookstore, which means book. Unlike Feng Songsong, you have to buy something to drink before sitting here reading.
6. China Bookstore
Address: all over the country.
Comments: This bookstore mainly deals in used books, but there are also many new books for sale, mainly ancient books. It also has its own publishing house, which often sorts out and publishes some ancient books that are hard to buy in the market. In bookstores all over the streets in China, we often find some good books that can't be found elsewhere, such as thread-bound books, but this can only be accidental, because many customers who come to this bookstore are looking for used books.
7. Reader Service Department of Zhonghua Book Company and Commercial Press.
Address: In front of Deng Shi West Exit Commercial Press, Wangfujing Street, Beijing.
Bus routes: 103, 104, 108,1,420 and 803, get off at the west exit of Deng Shi Station and take a taxi to the west exit of Wangfujing, Deng Shi.
Comment: I visited these two bookstores three years ago. At present, it can only be regarded as half a memory. I believe everyone knows the taste and value of books published by Zhonghua Book Company and Commercial Press better than I do. Although all bookstores have more or less books, they are always "more or less". They value market value, and we may not find what we want. The two bookstores were completely demolished about two years ago and a two-story building was rebuilt on the original site. But it has been under renovation for the past two years. Last year, I asked the staff of Zhonghua Book Company at the "Eleventh" Book Fair, and they said that they would reopen soon, but until years ago, they didn't see either the decoration or the opening. I passed by the other day and saw books and bookshelves. There seemed to be long and short notes on the glass door.
8. Reader Service Department of People's Literature Publishing House
Address: Chaoyangmennei Street, Beijing, in front of People's Literature Publishing House.
Bus route: 10 1, 109,10,112,420,846, and get off at Neijie Street. Taxi terminal: Chaonei Street People's Literature Publishing House.
Comments: The overall quality of books published by People's Literature Publishing House is still good, although sometimes there are some artificial restrictions in thought.
9. People's Literature Publishing House Pearl Market Store
Address: 5th floor, Gordon Building (Xidan Pearl Market), Xidan, Beijing, northeast of Zhong You Department Store and north of the west side of Beijing Book Building.
Bus route: Take a taxi from Beijing Book Building. End point: Xidan Gordon Building (or Xidan Pearl Market).
Comments: It is particularly worth mentioning that the second working plane of Xinhuanet is on the seventh floor of Gordon Building. The fifth floor is the book market, which is full of all kinds of pirated books, but there is also a good place, that is, the People's Literature Publishing House, which is a special point of the People's Literature Publishing House, where a large number of previously published humanities books that are difficult to find in the market are concentrated, generally less than 50% off, and at least 15% off for newly published ones.
10, Liulichang antique thread-bound bookstore
Address: Liulichang
Bus routes: Bailibao 102, 15, and get off at Liulichang Station on the 25th. No.44, No.48, No.703, No.726, No.808, No.826, No.8265438 +0 ... get off at Hepingmen Station and walk 500 meters south. Taxi terminal: Liulichang.
Comments: This is a famous ancient cultural street since the Qing Dynasty. There are countless antique shops, and many ancient books scattered among the people in the past have appeared here.
