Library modernization started early, and 1996 took the lead in realizing the synchronized network management of libraries and campus networks in the whole province. At present, the core network of the library is composed of 10 dedicated servers, running more than 20 different service systems through virtual machine technology, forming a library network service system with China HowNet, e-books, Wanfang dissertations, OPAC and other electronic literature resources as the main body and expanding related services. The digitalization of resource storage, the modernization of service means and the networking of information transmission have been realized, and the utilization rate of literature resources has been greatly improved. Readers can make inquiries, make appointments, renew books, recommend books and other services online, and also provide e-mail reminder services. Relying on advanced management equipment and technical conditions, the library provides server hosting services for all departments of the school. Six servers and six websites outside the library provide services for the school through the library, which enriches the information sources of Jinan University Library and strengthens the role of the library as an information guarantee platform.
Libraries can improve the utilization rate of literature by developing multi-level and multi-mode reader services. We will implement comprehensive open lending service for paper documents, network service for electronic resources, and online appointment renewal, and strive to improve service quality. Constantly tap the potential and increase the opening hours. This week's opening hours are 108.5 hours, and the main reading room is open for 92 hours per week, providing network resources continuously for 7×24 hours per week. Information literacy education, consulting services, project novelty retrieval, interlibrary loan, document delivery, server hosting, and door-to-door services for borrowing and returning books have been continuously strengthened.
The organizational structure of the library includes: resource construction department, circulation department, reading department, information literacy education and development department, system guarantee and development department and office. At present, there are 1 19 employees, of which more than 80% are middle and senior titles, and more than 60% are bachelor degree or above. The education level and professional quality of employees have been gradually improved.
