Heyang County Museum, located in the Confucian Temple in Heyang County, is a county-level museum with collection, protection, research, education and archaeological investigation, which was formally established after it was separated from Heyang County Cultural Center in May of 1989, and belongs to Heyang County Cultural Bureau.
Heyang Confucian Temple, where the museum is located, was built in the eighth year of the Northern Song Dynasty (1093). It is a group of ancient buildings in Song and Ming Dynasties with high historical and artistic value. The main buildings are Yucheng Hall, Minglun Hall, Zunjing Pavilion, Liangzhai, Liangbian and hatchback, covering an area of 6,750 square meters, with a construction area of 2 173 square meters. It is the largest existing ancient architectural complex in Heyang, and 1992 was announced by Shaanxi Provincial People's Government as a provincial key cultural relics protection unit on April 20th.
Dacheng Hall was built in Daguan period of Northern Song Dynasty and rebuilt in Hongwu year of Ming Dynasty. It is located at the top of the mountain with only one roof. Its style is simple and heavy, with obvious architectural style and local characteristics in the early Ming Dynasty. It is an important material of architectural art in Ming Dynasty. On the west side of the front of the temple, there is a replica of Cao Quanbei by Han Heyang, and on the east side, there is an inscription on the reconstruction of Gong Xue, which was engraved in the 32nd year of Qing Qianlong.
Zunjing Pavilion is located in the north of Dacheng Hall. It is a three-story wooden building built on a high platform. It was founded in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. The architectural form is a double eaves located on the top of the mountain. The exhibition hall is 20 meters high and the arches are interactive. The eaves are towering and majestic, which are rare in similar buildings in our province. There is an inscription on the front door of the pavilion, such as "Lei Recommended Monument", which was erected on 1998.
Since the establishment of Heyang County Museum, the collection has been continuously enriched through various channels such as collection and donation. There are 784 pieces (groups) in the collection, including 7 national first-class cultural relics (groups), 5 second-class cultural relics (groups) and 27 third-class cultural relics (groups). The collection covers porcelain, pottery, stone tools, jade, metalworking, calligraphy and painting 1 1 categories. Among them, Neolithic cultural relics represented by painted pottery pots, bluestone shovels and rope patterns, Warring States cultural relics represented by Xia and duck head bronze pots, Han cultural relics represented by Zhu Shutao pots and Boshan furnaces, Tang cultural relics represented by brick towers and tricolor flat pots, Song and Jin porcelain represented by Yao kiln moon white glazed jade pot spring bottle and Yao kiln imitation oil drop glazed bowl were razed with one knife. In addition, a batch of ancient books 10 128 volumes from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China are also excellent collections, precious materials for studying history and important evidence for the historical and cultural process of Heyang.
Heyang County Museum successfully held "Heyang Cultural Relics Exhibition" in Zunjing Pavilion of Confucian Temple on the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, which was well received by people from all walks of life and achieved good social benefits. At present, the exhibition hall is under maintenance and has not been displayed for the time being. After the maintenance of the exhibition is completed, it is planned to fully show the historical evolution, customs and cultural relics of Heyang County to the audience mainly through the display of cultural relics in the collection and the introduction of existing cultural relics on the ground.
