Warehouse management knowledge: what is the location management? What are the classifications of goods management?
Location management refers to the planning, allocation, use and adjustment of the location of materials stored in the warehouse. The classification of location management is divided into fixed location and free location according to the purpose of location. In order to facilitate the management of cargo hold, the method of cargo hold number can be adopted, such as the method of "No.4 positioning". It would be ideal if the cargo hold could be managed by computer. It can allocate and provide cargo space according to the set conditions, and can make various inquiries at any time to understand the utilization of cargo space.

Free location is also called "free location" or "random location". Each cargo hold can store any kind of materials (except those that have adverse effects on each other). As long as the storage space is free, all kinds of goods in the warehouse can be stored. Its main advantage is that it can make full use of each location, give full play to the role of each location, and improve the storage capacity of logistics centers. Its disadvantage is that the goods in each position often change, and each kind of goods has no fixed position. It is difficult for managers to find goods when receiving and sending goods, which affects work efficiency and easily leads to receiving and sending errors. If the computer is used to manage the cargo space, the free cargo space is generally used.

Fixed cargo hold is also called "fixed material level". It is strictly stipulated that a cargo hold can only store goods of a certain specification and variety, and cannot store other goods. Its main advantage is that the storage location of each kind of goods is fixed, and managers can easily know and remember the different storage locations of various goods, which is convenient for receiving and sending, and can improve the efficiency of receiving and sending goods and reduce errors. Non-warehouse managers can easily find the required cargo space if it is drawn into a cargo space distribution map. Its disadvantage is that it can't make full use of every cargo space, resulting in a waste of storage capacity. In order to take advantage of its advantages and overcome its disadvantages, small goods stored on shelves can be stored without fixed storage space, and large goods stacked on site can be stored in idle storage space.
